This post is for a Consultant Physician in Rheumatology with a General Internal Medicine component. The post holder will have joint General Medical and Rheumatology responsibilities. The job is a full-time post comprising 10 Programmed Activities (PAs). Applicants who wish to work less than full time are very welcome to apply.
The post holder will demonstrate a firm commitment to clinical governance, clinical audit, and risk management by the development of systems to ensure the highest standards of patient care are achieved and maintained.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for the maintenance of the highest clinical standards in the management of all patients under their team. The appointee will share with medical, nursing, and administrative colleagues responsibility for the day-to-day management of Rheumatic diseases. The appointee will share with colleagues the responsibility for the management of the Rheumatology Department.

Job responsibilitiesProvide consultant medical services to patients admitted to the Rheumatology and GIM ward and supervise junior doctors involved in the care of these patients.Provide Rheumatology services for the trust which includes delivering outpatient clinics, supporting specialist nurses, supporting the day unit, and seeing inpatient referrals.Provide, with the other Consultants, a system of mutual out-of-hours cover for Acute and General Internal Medicine and cover for annual, study, and professional leave.Please see attached job description for the full list of duties.
