Main duties of the job As a Consultant Psychiatrist at the Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, you will manage the psychiatric care across our diverse Mental Health Specialities.
Key duties include: Conducting detailed psychiatric assessments, developing care plans, and monitoring treatment outcomes.
Leading clinical decision-making and risk management within a multi-disciplinary team, ensuring patient safety and recovery-focused care.
Acting as the Responsible Clinician for detained patients, with Mental Health Act duties and active participation in Care Programme Approach (CPA) reviews.
Providing clinical oversight and guidance to team members, supporting a collaborative approach to complex cases.
Participating in service development, quality improvement, and governance activities to enhance care standards and service effectiveness.
Person SpecificationQualifications Full Registration with the General Medical Council MRCPsych or recognised equivalent Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 12 months of CCT at time of interview.
CCT in Specialty Psychiatry Approved under section 12 of the Mental Health Act 1983 Disclosure and Barring Service Check This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
