Location: Hawke's Bay Fallen Soldiers' Memorial Hospital and 208 Avenue Road West, Hastings Service: Mental Health and Addiction, Nga Harakeke mai Rongokako - Child, Adolescent and Family Service (CAFS) Contract: Permanent - full-time and part-time roles available (0.6 – 1.0 FTE) About the role | Korero mo te turanga The medical team consists of three Consultant Psychiatrists, a general practitioner and a psychiatric registrar.
Your role will include: Diagnosis and treatment of a range of mental health conditions in children and adolescents, including neurodevelopmental disorder, mood disorders, eating disorders, psychoses and trauma-related presentations.
You will work within a multidisciplinary team that includes cultural support workers (kaiawhina), psychologists, social workers, occupational therapist, nurses, a dietitian, and liaison with paediatricians.
You will also need to collaborate with general practitioners, schools and Oranga Tamariki - the agency that has statutory responsibility for child welfare in New Zealand – non-government agencies and local iwi.
You will need to engage with families and carers of patients.
The multidisciplinary team is likely to look to you for clinical leadership, especially in relation to complex clinical problems.
You will be supported by your peers within the service, the senior leadership of the Mental Health and Addictions Service and the expectation would be that you join the regional specialist child and adolescent psychiatry peer review group.
Child, Adolescent and Family Service (CAFS) is the tertiary provider of mental health services to children and youth (0-18) in the Hawke's Bay region.
You will be passionate about working with children and families who present with complexity, in a holistic and child-centered way, work flexibly and feel with a wide variety of presentations seen in childhood and adolescence.
You will have a wide range of general psychiatric skills and hold, or be eligible for Vocational Registration as a Child Psychiatrist with Medical Council of New Zealand.
You will be able to provide clinical leadership to the multidisciplinary team, with a commitment to continuous quality improvement.
