Consultant Psychiatrist - Cmht, Wiltshire

We are seeking a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our Community Mental Health for West Wiltshire and Devizes (WWKD). This post is an existing post, which has become vacant due to the post-holder moving into a new post.
Main duties of the jobAs the post holder you will deliver direct interventions to service users at a level of intensity according to need including those service users who require an assertive approach who are difficult to engage. This will include on-going assessment, diagnoses (including review and clarification) and treatment of mental and physical health needs.
As the post holder you will provide Medical input and leadership to the WWKD CMHT with particular responsibility for patients from surgeries in Melksham and Trowbridge.
As the post holder you will also:
Provide advice to members of the Multi-Disciplinary Teams in the WWKD CMHT Team and attend regular Team MDT meetings.
Assessment and treatment of outpatients in clinics.
Hold CPA meetings for outpatients.
Visit patients in their own place of residence if clinically indicated
Liaise with other parts of the service and GPs and non-NHS organisations wherever applicable.
Liaise with the Intensive and Inpatient services as appropriate to facilitate the smooth handover of clients between services.
To fulfil the Responsible Clinician role with respect to patients subject to Community Treatment Orders.

Person SpecificationQualificationsMB BS or equivalent medical qualificationRelevant Higher Degree e.g MD,PHD,Msc or other additional clinical qualificationsMRCPsych OR MRCPsych equivalent approved by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointmentIncluded on the GMC Specialist Register OR within six months of gaining CCTApproved clinician status OR able to achieve within 3 months of appointmentApproved under S12 OR able to achieve with 3 months of appointmentCCT in General Adult PsychiatryExperienceExperience of assessing and treating patients in a community setting.Personal SkillsTo possess leadership skills and be able to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.Ability to manage own time, workload and prioritise clinical workAble to demonstrate excellent communication skills, in order to effectively work with patients, carers and staff.Excellent written and oral communication skillsClinical SkillsAbility to assess and treat psychiatric problems in Adults of working age and to deal with crisis situations.KnowledgeUnderstanding of the management skills required to function successfully as a Consultant.TeachingCommitment to and experience of undergraduate and postgraduate learning and teaching.Understand principles of teaching.Research and AuditExperience or involvement in a research project and publication.Experience of carrying out an audit project.ManagementEvidence of management/leadership skills training.Disclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
