Job summary We havea NEW and Exciting opportunity to join our very well established MSKPhysiotherapy Team in Herefordshire and Worcestershire Health and Care Trust asa Consultant Physiotherapist.This is a new role for ourservice and organisation.
You will work alongside our very experiencedoperational leadership team.
You will be the clinical lead and clinical expertin the field of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy and fulfil the 4 pillars ofpractice in line with Health Education Englands MultiprofessionalConsultant-level practice capability and impact framework.You will be working 30 hours per week, countywide inbeautiful Worcestershire with rolling hills and lots of green spaces.
Main duties of the job To be the clinical lead andclinical expert in the field of Musculoskeletal (MSK) Physiotherapy and fulfilthe 4 pillars of practice in line with Health Education EnglandsMultiprofessional Consultant-level practice capability and impact framework.To be the clinical expert and strategic leaderin the management of patients within the MSK service, developing and usingadvanced scope of practice.
Practice at an expert clinical level and exercisehigh levels of judgement,discretion and decision making in clinical care.
They will provide clinical andstrategic leadership, expert practice, and advanced knowledge, integratingresearch evidence into practice and contributing to/leading on research intheir clinical field.
There is an expectation that up to 50% of the postholders portfolio will be spent in direct autonomous clinical practice, eitherhaving a clinical responsibility for a defined cohort of patients or providingside by side supervision and training for clinicians within this clinical area.
To act as a professional andvalues-based leader for the advanced practice MSK team supporting theoperational running of the service, communication, and links with PCNs andAcute Services To act as a source of expertiseon the management of MSK conditions through the MSK Pathway in Worcestershire.

Job description Job responsibilities Provide professional andclinical expert leadership and support for all MSK colleagues as appropriate.Be highly visible in theclinical areas Act as an expert clinician for musculoskeletal relatedconditions acting in a consultancy role for other staff.
Act as an excellentrole model to musculoskeletal colleagues and provide expert advice, support,guidance, and education in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy.Work in an expert practitionerrole administering highly complex advanced treatments safely and effectivelyaccording to Trust and Departmental SOPs, maintaining evidence of competencePossess specialist clinicalknowledge related to musculoskeletal care acquired through Masters level studywhich is supplemented by vast Specialist experience training.Maintain personal standards ofconduct and behaviour consistent with Trust policy, Values and AHP guidelines.Participate in theimplementation and delivery of the standards set within the advanced practiceframework and contribute to the strategic agenda within the trust.Take a proactive role inshaping the development of services and pathways, engaging where appropriatewith external agencies and commissioners.Identify and lead changes inpractice and service delivery in accordance with evidence-based standards andpolicy, challenging traditional boundaries and current thinking; and overcomingresistance and conflict at the Trust and local and national level.Allocate, coordinate, monitorand assess own workload and that of individuals or the service makingadjustments to ensure consistent service delivery.Consult with other health careproviders and public/independent agencies.Consult with other colleaguesand services internally and externally to ensure a integrated approach.Uphold and safeguardindividuals interests and provide information on the risks, benefits, andpotential outcomes of decisions about MSK care to facilitate shareddecision-making, goal setting and agreement of a personalised care plan.Interpret andevaluate information from diverse sources to make informed judgements about itsquality, appropriateness for practice and service delivery.Improvepractice and health outcomes so that they are consistent with national andinternational standards through the management and facilitation of change.Be responsiblefor maintaining and disseminating knowledge and expertise within the within thetrust.Seizeopportunities to apply new knowledge to their own and others practice instructured ways, which are capable of evaluation.Maintain ahigh profile within the Trust and outside, providing a strong contribution tothe achievement of organisational goals and ambitions.Communicateregionally, on their areas of specialist knowledge.Recogniseboundaries of own expert clinical practice as it develops and to manageassociated clinical risks at all times.

Person Specification Experience Essential In-depth postgraduate experience, including experience in advanced musculoskeletal physiotherapy at advanced practice level Leadership qualification or significant experience of leading a team in a healthcare setting Evidence of leading on audit, research and understanding quality issues Evidence of leading on the departmental/pathway supervision and clinical education of students and less experienced staff.
Evidence of working along an MSK Pathway from Primary Secondary Care, and within different clinical environments Evidence of successful service improvements within clinical area Provide evidence of relevant published material Desirable Experience working within a Consultant AHP role Qualifications Essential State Registration (HCPC) Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio including attendance at recent postgraduate courses.
Relevant validated clinical courses Experiential learning Masters qualification in relevant subject Post graduate qualification in musculoskeletal injection therapy.
Evidence of x-ray, MRI and blood test interpretation I understand that I will be asked to provide original certificates to verify my qualifications at point of offer.
Desirable Post graduate leadership qualification Knowledge Essential Highly Specialist knowledge of broad range of musculoskeletal conditions Evidence of advanced clinical reasoning abilities Ability to pass on advanced skills / highly specialist knowledge to others within both formal and informal environments.
