We have an exciting opportunity for a Consultant or Specialist Grade Doctor in Palliative Medicine to join the St. Peter's Hospice medical team, working as 0.6 or 0.8 FTEThe postholder will join the senior medical team of 4 consultants, working alongside multi-professional colleagues to deliver high quality palliative care to patients and families.
They will be working in a supportive and collaborative environment for a much-loved and respected charity serving the vibrant city of Bristol and the surrounding area.The role will have a strong focus on supporting patients in our community, both directly and by working closely with other hospice teams, including provision of support to the hospice advice line.
The role will also involve leading work to improve access to services for those with non-cancer conditions.
The postholder will contribute to care of inpatients for 10 consultant-led beds.Key responsibilities:Assessment and management of patients in the community (virtual and face to face) with complex palliative care needsLeadership and support to weekly community team meetings with CNS teamsSupport to medical advice lineLeading patient management on the inpatient unit when cross covering colleaguesProvision of 2nd on call support to medical advice line and inpatient unit at a 1 in 5 frequencyActive engagement and leadership with quality improvement and service improvement activitiesTeaching and training of doctors in GP and Specialist Training SchemesWhat we can offer you:Salary and on call supplement aligned with NHS Consultant payscales0.6 or 0.8 FTEA minimum of one protected Supporting Professional ActivityOffice location: St Peter's Hospice, Brentry, Bristol BS10 6NLEither 30 days (FTE) for less than 7 years NHS service in the grade, or 33 days (FTE) for more than 7 years in the grade plus bank holidaysOpportunity for study leave to support continuing professional developmentOpportunity to join or remain on NHS pension scheme
