Job summary The consultant will join the existing team of consultants in the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of ophthalmic patients.
The consultant will provide a sub-specialty interest in Adult & Paediatric Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery within the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.
Main duties of the job The consultant will join the existing team of consultants in the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital and be responsible for the diagnosis, treatment and aftercare of ophthalmic patients.
The consultant will provide a sub-specialty interest in Adult & Paediatric Oculoplastic and Orbital Surgery within the Manchester Royal Eye Hospital.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential MBChB or equivalent Postgraduate qualification or equivalent FRCOphth Completion of basic training Completion of higher training Full GMC registration and currently on Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview Knowledge/Previous Experience Essential Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems, both emergency and elective within the scope of adult & paediatric orbital and oculoplastic and general ophthalmology Ability to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patients Expertise and proven experience in the management of adult & paediatric orbital and oculoplastic and general ophthalmic problems Teaching and Audit Essential Teaching medical students Experience of Clinical Audit in Ophthalmology Teaching junior medical staff Commitment to continuing medical education and the requirements of clinical governance and audit Academic Achievements and Research Essential A specialist interest in Orbital and Oculoplastic surgery Desirable Relevant publications in recognised peer-reviewed ophthalmic journals in the last 3 years Research projects relating to Orbital and Oculoplastic surgery A desire to further their research in Orbital and Oculoplastics at MREH Interpersonal Skills Essential Excellent Organisations skills Excellent Communication skills
