Job summary Consultant RheumatologistsHaywood Rheumatology CentrePermanent10 PAs although Part Time / Job Share will be consideredApplications are invited for substantive Consultant Rheumatologists to join the large enthusiastic multidisciplinary team based at the Haywood Rheumatology Centre, Stoke-on-Trent.The current team of 14 consultants is supported by resident doctors, nurse consultants, nurse specialists, consultant physiotherapists, advanced physiotherapy practitioners, s and well established rehabilitation medicine, pain, fracture liaison, bone densitometry and research teams.The department provides a wide variety of specialised rheumatology and musculoskeletal clinics across Staffordshire and has access to all essential support services, multidisciplinary departments, clinic suites and a specialist day case unit.
Main duties of the job There is close collaboration with our medical, surgical, and paediatric colleagues at the acute UHNM where we provide combined clinics and an on-call service for rheumatology.
We work with the orthopaedic teams to support perioperative care of patients with complex needs and for delivering our highly acclaimed musculoskeletal interface services across Staffordshire.
We are extremely well supported by our UHNM musculoskeletal radiology colleagues and have plans for further development of shared services.We are an academic rheumatology department with an enviable track record of clinical research including clinical trials, development of outcome measures and outcome studies in rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis and crystal arthropathies.
The Keele University and Haywood Academic Rheumatology Partnership has been designated a Centre of Excellence in Rheumatology by EULAR.
The department encourages all staff to get involved with research, designing, leading and contributing to a wide range of portfolio and non-portfolio studies.
Several clinicians have academic contracts with Keele University.The strong links with the Medical School provide excellent opportunities to teach, tutor and mentor undergraduate medical students.
The majority of the clinical team contribute to the excellent multi-professional postgraduate education programmesSub specialisation and academic development is strongly supported and job plans may be altered to facilitate this.
