Job summary The opportunity has arisen for a dynamic and motivated doctor to joinour Radiology department to complement the existing team of 6 chest radiologistsand 42 consultant radiologists in the wider department as we work to deliverthe highest quality, sustainable service for our patients.

Main duties of the job Duties will be primarily based on our Wakefield (Pinderfields) site although all our medical staff are involved in delivering care to patients on all our sites with expectations of potential on-site presence at Dewsbury, Pontefract and/or our Community Diagnostic Centre in Wakefield.A brief description of the post:This replacement post is primarily to complement the existing chest radiology team comprising 6 substantive consultant radiologists, some of whom have additional subspecialty interests.The successful candidate will support and enable the team to deliver a sustainable excellent service throughout the year for acute and elective respiratory and oncology pathways in the context of increasing demands and service delivery expectations particularly around cancer.They will primarily report specialist chest imaging, as well assupport the weekly lung cancer and benign multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings.Expertise in image-guided chest biopsy/drainage and/or cardiac imaging would be advantageous.The post-holder will join a team of 42 other consultant radiologists who provide a wide range of subspecialist and general radiological services.

The post-holder will join a team of 42 other consultantradiologists who provide a wide range of subspecialist and general radiologicalservices.General radiology diagnostic skills are essential and the post holder isexpected to contribute to the departmental general radiology workload,including acute CT.The successful applicant will be expected to participate inthe general diagnostic on call rota, circa 1 in 20 weeknights and 1 in 10weekends; schedules will take due account of the provisions of working timeregulations and safe working.Acute CT is outsourced overnightand there is a separate non-vascular intervention rota.
Additional subspecialty interestscan be accommodated depending on service need.Supporting Professional Activities (SPAs) will be availablein accordance with the Trust Framework, with a minimum of SPAs included inthe core 10PA timetable.
Additional SPA or DCC time may be commissioned in linewith the skills of the successful candidate and changing requirements of theservice; this may include formal teaching or leadership roles.The provisional timetable shownbelow represents the anticipated PA commitments, but may be adjusted bynegotiation to suit the appointee and fulfil service requirements.Networked working arrangementswill be considered to provide specialist clinical work not performed at MYNHSTthrough agreement with local NHS trusts.
Teleradiologyis in use and all Consultants are offered access to a home workstation withsecure VPN Broadband connection to enable connection to the Trust network forremote reporting.
OfficeSpace is provided across the trust in a flexible arrangement depending on sitepresence within an agreed job plan.
Pooled secretarial support will beprovided.
Person Specification Experience Essential Subspecialty training and experience in chest imaging post FRCR 2B Experience in general cross-sectional reporting Desirable Chest intervention expertise Cardiac imaging expertise Computer literate Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
Management Skills Essential Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
Good time management.
Desirable Possess good organisational and personal management skills GMC Registration Essential Please state full GMC number.
Full GMC Registration with licence to practise Inclusion on the GMC Specialist Register for Radiology or within 6 months of obtaining CCT (or CESR / equivalent) Qualifications Essential Medical Degree from recognised medical school FRCR or equivalent Desirable Medical School Prizes Audit or Case Presentations Teaching qualification/ prize
