Consultant in Public Health (Older People, Learning Disabilities, and Public Mental Health) Cambridge £900 per day- outside IR35 Full Time (37.5 hours per week) Contract Spencer Clarke Group are looking for a Consultant in Public Health with a special focus on Older People, Learning Disabilities, and Public Mental Health to join our Public Health team.
This senior role is crucial for shaping and delivering public health policies that improve the health and wellbeing of vulnerable populations, while addressing inequalities and driving positive changes across the health and care system.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the development and implementation of strategies, programmes, and policies aimed at improving public health outcomes, particularly in relation to older people, learning disabilities, and mental health.
Engage and work with partners across the health and care system, local authorities, voluntary sectors, and other stakeholders to promote public health initiatives and tackle wider determinants of health.
Design, develop, and implement evidence-based public health policies that are tailored to local needs, ensuring alignment with national health priorities and legislation.
Lead successful change management programmes that span organizational boundaries, with a focus on addressing inequalities and enhancing health outcomes.
Act as a public health advocate, using data and complex information to communicate public health issues to a wide range of audiences, including senior decision-makers, the public, and media outlets.
Provide leadership in responding to public health emergencies, working within multi-disciplinary teams to manage and mitigate health risks.
Ensure high standards of clinical quality assurance, evaluation, and continuous improvement in public health practice, applying both qualitative and quantitative data.
Essential Qualifications and Experience: Inclusion in the GMC Full and Specialist Register with a license to practice, or GDC Specialist List, or UK Public Health Register (UKPHR) for Public Health Specialists at the time of application.
If registered in a specialty other than public health medicine or dental public health, candidates must have relevant public health experience or training equivalent to UK standards.
UK-trained candidates must either hold a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Public Health or be within six months of obtaining it at the time of interview.
Non-UK trained applicants will be required to demonstrate equivalence to the UK CCT.
Proven track record in leading successful public health programmes, particularly in the areas of older people, learning disabilities, and public mental health.
Skills and Personal Qualities: Strong strategic thinker with proven leadership skills, able to motivate and influence a range of stakeholders.
Capable of both leading multi-disciplinary teams and contributing effectively to teams led by junior colleagues.
Ability to communicate complex public health information in a clear and impactful way to different audiences, from professionals to the general public.
High-level analytical skills, with the ability to work with both qualitative and quantitative data, including health economics, to inform decision-making.
A strong understanding of the public sector duty and inequality duty, with the ability to apply these principles in public health practice.
Knowledge and Expertise: In-depth understanding of the health and care system, including its interface with both local and national government structures.
Expertise in developing, implementing, and evaluating public health strategies, ensuring clinical quality assurance and evidence-based practice.
A strong understanding of how to work across health, social care, and other sectors to address the wider determinants of health.
