Job summary We are looking toappoint an enthusiastic Consultant to join a team of ENT Consultants andSpecialist.
TheDepartment of ENToffers a service for adults and children, outpatients/inpatients electives andday case work.
There is a special interest within the team for Head and Necksurgery, thyroid and salivary gland surgery, FESS and Otology.
The department are supported by comprehensive imaging services,including CT, MRI scanning and Nuclear medicine, Pathology, Pharmacy andAudiology Services.This is a permanentpost is based on 10 PAs per week.
This post does have an on-call requirement.The on call is 1:3 Monday to Thursday, and 1:9 Friday to Sunday, the weekend oncall is shared with the Royal Hallamshire Hospital.

Applicants must have full GMC registration, FRCS (orequivalent) and CCT/CESR in Otolaryngology (or be within 6 months of obtainingCCT).
Thepostholder should have completed an Otology fellowship.
Main duties of the job ClinicalServicesThe appointed clinician will,together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the planning, deliveryand improvement of clinical care in ENT Surgery at Barnsley Hospital.Advise clinical colleagues onmatters within his/her sphere of experience.Liaise with other Health CareOrganisations, Social Services, General Practitioners, Voluntary Organisations and the Hospice as required.Training andEducationContribute tothe teaching of other gradesof staff, both within and outsidethe department, including medicalstaff, nurses, paramedical staff and scientific and technical staff.Consider a role as Educational Supervisor /Clinical Supervisor for Specialist Registrars, Core Trainees, FoundationDoctors.Please note the full duties of the post can be found in the Job Description which is attached under the supporting documents section.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Full GMC Registration Entry on the GMC Specialist Register via CCT - proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview CESR or European Community Rights Desirable Relevant Higher Degree.
Experience Essential Experience of the management of all common ENT conditions and broad clinical experience in Otology, FESS and Head and Neck Surgery.
Training Essential Higher Surgical Training in ENT and obtained CCST/CCT or equivalent with minimum 1 year experience in Otology.
Fellowship in Otology.
Desirable Training in sub-specialist area of practice.
Teaching, Audit and Research Essential Experience of training medical undergraduates and postgraduates.
Training the Trainers.
Experience of participation in regular clinical audit, and ability to organize and present audits.
Evidence of clinical papers published in peer- reviewed journals.
Desirable Appraisal training.
Experience of supervising research by junior staff.
Completion of Education Supervisor training.
Broad experience of medical research and presentations at national or regional conferences.
