Main duties of the job The mainduties of the post will include:The post holderwill be expected to work with colleagues to provide a comprehensive acute andelective Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery service.
This post will be support asub-specialist interest in the management of skin cancer and the development ofa sentinel lymph node biopsy service and Mohs micrographic surgical service.This post willinclude being a core member of the skin MDT in conjunction with PlasticSurgery, Dermatology and HistopathologyDelivery ofoutpatient clinics, elective inpatient and day case surgery in PinderfieldsGeneral Hospital, Dewsbury and DistrictHospital and Pontefract General InfirmaryUrgent andemergency care duties including out of hours on call working within the provisionsof working time regulations and safe working.
On call duties are shared withLeeds Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery unit on a 1:12 rota currently assessed at1PA.
Candidates not wishing to participate on the on call rota will also beconsidered.
Participation ofteaching, training and audit, educational and clinical supervision of coretrainees and specialist registrars Provisionof advice and support to the clinical team and peers in a range of clinicaland/or leadership situations in a professional and appropriate manner whichinspires confidence, motivation, and teamwork within the field.

Our team is made up of enthusiastic and highly motivated individualssupported by a dedicated specialty-secretariat, with office and networkedcomputer facilities.
We serve apopulation of approximately 650,000 covering Wakefield, Pontefract andDewsbury.
Our main base is in Wakefield.
We have a fully equipped and modernout-patient department including 9 clinic rooms, 2 major treatment rooms, arecovery area and a maxillofacial laboratory.We have an out-patient department in Dewsbury with 2 clinic rooms and aminor treatment room.
The Oral andMaxillofacial Surgery service currently has 5 consultants (2 visiting), 6Specialty Doctors, 2 Specialty Registrars and 11 core trainees.
The Orthodonticclinical team includes 4 part-time consultants, 2 specialty registrars and 2orthodontic therapists.
The Community Dentistry Service has 1 consultant, 2specialist dentists, 1 senior dental officers and 3 dental officers and arebased over multiple sites.The consultantbody covers most sub-specialty areas with the exception of major head and neckcancer surgery.
Person Specification Experience Essential Up to date knowledge, skills and attitudes to the practice of OMFS Desirable Computer literate Specific educational interests and evidence of educational ideas or project work.
GDC / GMC Registration Essential Please state full GMC number Full GMC Registration Inclusion on the GMC Specialist List for Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Eligible for GDC registration Evidence of post CCT experience/qualifications in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery successful completion of SAC approved CCST training programme in OMFS (eligible if completion within 6 months of the date of the appointment) Qualifications Essential MBBS and BDS or equivalent MFDS, MRCS and FRCS (OMFS) ATLS provider status Desirable MFDS or equivalent Higher degree Prizes/Papers/Presentations Audit or Quality Improvement Projects Teaching qualification / awards Management Skills Essential Demonstrates intelligent and analytical approach to problem solving.
