Post: Consultant in Old Age Psychiatry (1 POST) Base: Inverclyde Area (East) Relocation Expenses available ***Applications will be reviewed as and when submitted, Interviews will be arranged for successful applications*** This fulltime post (10PA) provides comprehensive psychiatric care for patients registered at GP practices within Greenock, Port Glasgow and Kilmacolm, essentially covering the Eastern portion of Inverclyde.
The successful applicant would have outpatient and inpatient responsibilities for patients in this area.
There is an over 65 population of approximately 16,400.
Inpatient beds are at the Larkfield Unit; part of Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
Continuing Care beds are based at the Orchard View Unit on the grounds of Inverclyde Royal Hospital.
There is an Old Age Psychiatry Liaison team in place with 3 nursing staff and a consultant.
This team provides liaison cover to over 65 patients within Inverclyde Royal Hospital, and to local care home residents.
Community team is based both at Inverclyde Royal and Crown House in Greenock.
In total there are 3 full time Old Age Psychiatrists for the Inverclyde area.
Applicants must have full GMC Registration, a license to practise and eligible for inclusion in the GMC Specialist Register.
Those trained in the UK should have evidence of higher specialist training leading to CCT or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview.
CESR (Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration) route doctors are only eligible to apply for a substantive consultant post once CESR is awarded.
Non-UK applicants must demonstrate equivalent training.
The job is offered as a full-time post on a 10 PA basis but applications will be considered from those wishing to work less than full-time.
Up to 2 EPA's may be available to undertake additional outpatient and/or procedure sessions or management activity.
Additional Non DCC (up to 2 PA's in total – Inclusive of 1 core SPA plus 1 additional non DCC can be negotiated and agreed between the successful candidate and Management depending on the time required to support professional activities and the needs of the service.
All newly qualified Consultants are initially offered a minimum of 1 Core Supporting Professional Activity (SPA) which includes CPD, audit, clinical governance, appraisal, revalidation, job planning and management meetings.
This will be reviewed within 6 months (or earlier if required) of appointment and revised upwards if additional responsibilities are agreed.
