Job summary A full time Consultant in Critical Care and Anaesthesia is required to meet the demand for critical care and anaesthesia services at Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust.
This will be based at Harrogate Hospital.
The post will join the existing 8 Critical Care Consultants, 11 Anaesthetic Consultants and 15 SAS doctors and offers the opportunity to develop further sub-specialty interests including ultrasound, organ donation, rehabilitation and follow up for example.
There will also be an opportunity to take on educational roles including educational supervision and faculty tutor/college tutor roles within the department as well as roles involving the wider hospital including digital transformation, innovation and research and management positions.
The newly appointed Consultant will take part in the out-of-hours Critical Care Consultant on-call rota.
Main duties of the job To provide high quality consultant delivered care to critically ill patients and those at risk of becoming critically ill. To provide clinical leadership and supervision of junior medical staff, ensuring the highest standards of clinical care are provided to all patients attending the hospital requiring critical care input.
To contribute to the provision of a comprehensive anaesthesia service to patients presenting acutely and electively requiring anaesthesia input.
To support the Trust's various medical emergency teams incl adult and paediatric 'crash' teams, and the trauma team.
To contribute to the compliance with national guidelines (for example, NICE, FICM and RCoA).
