We have been assigned by one of the UK's more prestigious NHS Trusts to help them recruit a Consultant in Haematology on either a Substantive or an NHS Fixed Term basis for 12 months to join their successful Haematology department.
Our client is one of the largest integrated care Trusts in the country, serving a diverse population of approximately 850,000 with a budget of over £640 Million.
This Department is a specialist centre for haemoglobin and red cell disorders, operating as the centre for a large Red Cell Network.
We also treat a wide range of malignant and benign conditions, including level 2B malignant haematology patients, with the exception of haemophilia, intensive treatment of acute leukaemia, and bone marrow transplantation.
The successful appointee will be joining a department of 6 consultant haematologists, 6 trainee doctors, 3 nurse specialists, and a highly experienced Transfusion Practitioner.
The department has asked the appointee to fulfil responsibilities such as:
Having a comprehensive training in haematology and being capable of handling the range of clinical and laboratory haematology problems that occur in the setting of a district general hospital.Being encouraged and supported to develop an interest in myeloid disorders and leading on immune haematological disorders such as ITP and autoimmune haemolytic anaemia.Taking on a leadership role in Laboratory Haematology and acting as the named Clinical Laboratory Lead.Working with other specialties to develop service pathways and guidance related to cancer-associated thrombosis.Developing the department's research portfolio in non-malignant haematology and reviewing General Haematology referrals, including two-week wait target referrals.Being encouraged and supported to develop a specific interest in thrombosis, leading on obstetric haematology matters.Being the named lead for patients with immune-related haematological disorders. Our client is based in a beautiful suburb borough on the outskirts of London with close proximity to big international airports, along with access to highly reputable public and private schools within the area.
