Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen for a 10PA substantive consultant post working in the Medicine for Older People Department at Manchester Royal Infirmary.
You will be part of a growing and dynamic team who deliver a range of services including movement disorders, surgical liaison, frailty, hospital at home/community, falls and TIA/stroke.
Weekend working currently involves covering a 1/8 rota 8am-4pm Saturday and Sunday with no current overnight oncall commitments or general internal medicine.
This will either cover our geriatric medicine inpatient wards or our frailty SDEC.
Main duties of the job An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Geriatrician to join the team at Manchester Royal Infirmary (part of Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.

You will be part of the wider Inpatient Medical Specialties Clinical Service Unit at MRI which includes the specialties of Respiratory, Haematology, Care of Elderly, Palliative Care and the Department of Medicine.
We would be supportive and open to Geriatrician applicants with specialist knowledge and interest in one of the following specialties; Cardiology, Vascular, Stroke, Acute Medicine, Acute Oncology and Frailty.
Committed to working with dignity and respect, you will have a broad-based expertise in Geriatric Medicine, General (Internal) Medicine and your relevant specialist interest.
You will be joining a team of highly motivated Consultants in Geriatric Medicine and depending on the interest and experience of the successful candidate there will be the opportunity to be involved in other sub-speciality areas of interest.

Person Specification Qualifications and Training Essential MB ChB or equivalent Full and specialist registration (and a licence to practise) with the General Medical Council (GMC) (or be eligible for registration within six months of interview) Applicants who are UK trained must also be a holder of a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT), or be within six months of award of CCT by date of interview.
Applicants who are non-UK trained will be required to show evidence of equivalence to the UK CCT.
Experience in Liasion or Frailty Desirable MD, PhD or other higher degree Experience in frailty Teaching and Audit Essential Experience of Audit Teaching of junior medical staff Trained Clinical Supervisor Desirable Teaching of medical students Experience of supervision of ST1 level trainees including workplace-based assessment and MSF Educational supervisor course Academic Achievements and Research Desirable Publications in recognised Clinical Journals Specialist interest in areas complementary to other consultants in the departments Research projects relating to the specialist area Interpersonal / Professional Skills Essential Organisational skills Communication skills Leadership skills Desirable Involvement in service development and/or quality improvement processes Publications in recognised Clinical Journals
