Main duties of the job o Provide clinical leadership and expertise in gynaecology withan interest in gynae oncology, supporting vetting, rapid accessclinics, reviewing and developing the diagnostic and referralpathways, supporting colleagues and Clinical Work effectively as the lead Tumour site lead, being a coremember of the weekly Gynae LMDT & SMDT ensuringpatients receive MDT careo Provide an initial diagnosis and ensure patients areappropriately assessed, investigated and discussed at theLMDT/SMDTo Undertake local early endometrial cancer surgery as part ofthe local gynae oncology surgical capacity Provide clinical leadership in service improvements, audit andclinical governance including the production and review ofclinical guidelines and to work to the most recently publishednational and network guidelineso Working with the leadership clinical and operation team,ensure cancer targets are met and that patients are treated indate order in line with national Participate in continuing medical education and training ofjunior medical staff, consultant colleagues, nurses, medicalstudents and colleagues in primary Participate in the on call gynaecology rota and the day timeemergency gynaecology care provision and ward roundso Ensure all leave is covered by a gynaecology colleague whois a member of the LMDT such that a 52 week per year serviceis provided.

Job description Job responsibilities The post is based at Lister Hospital in Stevenage and comprises 10 coreprogrammed activities (PAs) including: rapid access & general gynaecology clinics, the gynae oncology MDTmeeting, elective operating, special interest sessions that could include colposcopy or hysteroscopy, a shareof the emergency gynaecology care provision and a non resident 1 in 10 on call commitment for post holder will be the tumour site lead and will join and strengthen an established multidiscipline teamoffering local and network level gynae oncology care.
The post holder will provide leadership in reviewingand developing referral and diagnostic pathways for gynae addition to gynae oncology services the department offers a wide range of other gynecology specialist services including benign gynaecology, colposcopy, hysteroscopy, fertility, emergency gynaecology, early pregnancy care, recurrent miscarriage, endometriosis, robotic surgery and urogynaecology.
Within our Obstetrics services we provide a maternal medicine service for pregnancies complicated by diabetes, haematological and cardiac conditions, renal disease and many other medical conditions.
There are also specialist clinics for other pregnancies requiring consultant led care and clinics for perinatal mental health,multiple pregnancy, fetal medicine and high BMI.
Person Specification Qualifications / Training Essential Entry on GMC Specialist Register or, be within 6 months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) at time of interview or, provide GMC confirmed eligibility for entry on the Specialist Register MRCOG or appropriate specialist qualification Desirable MD or Postgraduate academic degree Previous Experience Essential Gynaecological Oncology Experience ATSM, SITM or equivalent training & experience in diagnostic gynae oncology Advanced laparoscopic skills including TLH Broad range of experience in Gynaecology and MDT working and an ability to offer and be accountable for full and independent expert diagnostic opinion Can evidence leading on patient safety issues and achieving a change in practice Demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of audit, evidence based practice, and clinical quality improvement initiatives Desirable or equivalent in vulval diseases ATSM or equivalent in Hysteroscopy BSCCP accreditation / Colposcopy SITM Experience of supervising undergraduates, doctors in training and other colleagues Published papers in peer reviewed journals Demonstrable experience and participation in research Skills Essential Able to evidence engagement with clinical governance and the identification of errors and the learning from errors.
