It would also be expected from the post holder to support the delivery of the out of hours GI bleed rota (which is already in place at frequency of 1:8).

Job responsibilities Currently the all consultants share the management of inpatients ( Gastroenterology currently cover a 24 bedded ward which is shared between 2 x Consultants at any given time ) Subspecialty clinics include IBD, Endoscopy, Nutrition and Hepatology .
There are 3 E.R.C.P and 3 bowel cancer screening lists weekly and a further 8 general lists.
A 24/7 GI bleed rota has been in place for 4 years and is supported by the regional interventional radiology service.
There is weekly upper G.I.
cancer MDM, Virtually attended by team from Kings College and GSTT.
The MDT is led by a Gastroenterologist, a surgically led lower G.I.
cancer / bowel screening MDT.

It would also be expected from the post holder to support the delivery of the out of hours GI bleed rota ( which is already in place at frequency of 1:8 ).
The post is flexible and any speciality interests would be considered.
The post will also be involved in improvement in the emergency patient pathway by delivering early consultant led specialist input for patients with GI disorders and facilitate early discharge through timely endoscopies.
This will drive an improvement in both the patients experience and quality but will also improve flow.
The department has a multidisciplinary approach to inflammatory bowel disease and complex nutritional patients which is facilitated by the inflammatory bowel disease MDT and nutrition ward round.
There are strong links with the Institute of liver Studies at Kings College Hospital with regard to viral hepatitis and hepatobiliary disease in-part due to joint appointments.
The gastroenterology service also provide daily inreach ward rounds into AMU and one outlying ward.
A Mentor will be provided for the successful candidate.
Secretarial support and an adequately equipped office will be provided including IT facilities.
Person SpecificationQualifications Full GMC Registration CCST/CCT in Gastroenterology / General Medicine (or will obtain within 6 months of interview date) or inclusion in the Specialist Register.
IELTS (Academic) level 7.5, or graduate of a Medical School in UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, USA or Canada.
