Consultant Community Paediatrician with Paediatric NeurodisabilityWe are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic paediatrician to join our excellent team to support the delivery of our services within the Integrated service for Children with Additional Needs (ICAN) within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
We are seeking to appoint a part-time Consultant Community Paediatrician delivering Paediatric Neurodisability, growth and nutrition services, and Child Protection Service as well as contributing to our medical leadership team. This is a post arising from vacancy created by retirement of an esteemed colleague.
The appointed consultant might be required to cover other aspects of service like Community Paediatric Clinics as per the interest of the applicants and the needs of the service. The post holder will be based in Wortley Beck Centre, but might need to travel across the city to contribute to some parts of the service.
Main duties of the jobThe workload is busy, but the environment is one of support from a passionate and skilled group of paediatricians. There is a great sense of enjoyment and job satisfaction in working with and supporting children from varied backgrounds and multiple needs. We are looking for applications from candidates with experience in Paediatric Neurodisability, and with an ethos of multidisciplinary working within the community. The post holder will play an important role in supporting the specialist training of paediatric trainees and will contribute to the undergraduate and foundation teaching programme. We support the development of medical leadership and have a strong programme of Quality Improvement and Continuing Professional Development.
Job responsibilitiesOBJECTIVES OF THE POST
To contribute to the Paediatric Neurodisability (PND) Service including Special Inclusion School Clinics.To contribute to city wide Child Protection Services.To contribute to City Wide Growth and Nutrition services.To contribute to the specialist training of paediatric trainees and contribute to the undergraduate teaching programme.To develop the newly introduced Foundation Training programme in Community Paediatrics.RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST
The Consultant will be part of the team based at the West Childrens hub and Child Development Centre, based in Wortley Beck Health Centre. The following are the Clinical responsibilities for the post holder:
Clinical GovernanceThe Trust has an active Local Hub and city-wide Clinical Governance programme. Paediatricians are also encouraged to attend and contribute to the Leeds Teaching Hospital teaching programme as relevant. The Consultant will ensure that they are involved in clinical governance activities and is expected to maintain and foster improvements in the quality and standards of clinical services, with a focus on evidence-based practice. The Consultant is expected to participate in audit and to contribute to and support research with the department as appropriate.
Person SpecificationThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions.
