Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation TrustConsultant Clinical Psychologist - Pathway Development in Sheffield CAMHS & Forensic CAMHS We have an exciting opportunity to shape a new approach for supporting children and young people with additional vulnerabilities, needs, and risks in Sheffield CAMHS and Forensic CAMHS.
Our current services for children who have experienced trauma and abuse, and who present risks to themselves or others, are spread across different teams, including mainstream CAMHS and local Forensic CAMHS.
We're looking to recruit an experienced clinician to help develop a creative pathway across these teams, providing better support for vulnerable and excluded children, young people, and the staff who work with them.
As Consultant Clinical Psychologist, you'll bring expertise in working with children and young people with complex needs and high-risk levels, including those on the edge of care, care-experienced, or involved with youth justice.
Experience in multi-disciplinary team work and collaboration with social care, youth justice, and schools is essential.
You'll also help lead service development and innovation as part of a collaborative effort to establish a new clinical model and approach.

Conduct advanced psychological assessments of children and families, using complex data from multiple sources.Develop and implement formal psychological treatment and/or management plans for clients' physical health and psychological problems, using evidence-based methods, across the full range of care settings.Provide specialist psychological interventions for individuals, carers, families, and groups, within and across teams employed individually and in synthesis.
Adapt and refine approaches based on different psychological models, and maintain several provisional hypotheses.Collaborate as a senior clinician to help shape a high-quality, responsive service for children and families, advising on psychological and organisational matters.Exercise delegated responsibility to manage psychological resources within the team, including overseeing psychological staff and materials used in patient assessments and treatments.About usAt Sheffield Children's, our purpose is clear: to provide healthier futures for children and young people.

Person SpecificationQualifications & TrainingPost-graduate doctoral level training in clinical psychology (or its equivalent for those trained prior to 1996) as accredited by the BPS, including specifically, models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and neuro-psychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology (including children & young people).Further specialist post-doctoral training, supervision and experience in one or more specific psychological approaches and/or with specific client groups supported by a programme of professional development as identified in an agreed professional development plan.Registration with Health & Care Professions Council as a clinical psychologist (or other domain title as agreed).Evidence of continuing professional developmentTraining in clinical supervision and the supervision of doctoral traineesAlready been working at Consultant Psychology levelHighly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised psychological therapies in specific modalities (eg family therapy, cognitive therapy, psychotherapy etc) or integrative approaches.ExperienceA broad, in depth range of competencies as a qualified practitioner psychologist such as would typically be acquired over the equivalent of six or more years of assessed / supervised experience within the child, adolescent & family specialty.Doctoral level knowledge and experience of the application of clinical psychology including highly developed knowledge of lifespan developmental psychology, clinical models of psychopathology and two or more distinct psychological therapies or interventional approaches.Experience and competencies in the assessment and care of difficult to treat or difficult to engage groups eg dual diagnoses, additional comorbidities or disability, complex and chronic psychological ill-health.Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients' psychological care and treatment, both as a professionally qualified care co-ordinator and also within the context of a multi-disciplinary care plan.Experience of supervising the work of practitioner psychologistsHighly developed knowledge of the theory and practice of specialised clinical psychology including assessment and interventions with difficult to assess and treat groups relevant to this specialityExperience of professional management of qualified and pre-qualified practitioner psychologists.Knowledge & SkillsExperience and skills in providing an 'expert resource' to the wider professional community including providing consultation to other professional and non-professional groupsExperience of teaching, training & clinical supervision of both trainee and qualified clinical psychologists and/or other professionally qualified staffDoctoral level competencies in participating in and leading clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, service evaluation and/or research projects including 'closing the loop' to evidence service improvementEvidence of effective leadership across the specialism.
