Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in NeurodiversityCwm Taf Morgannwg University Health BoardDue to the resignation of one of our CAMHS Consultants, applications are invited for a replacement Consultant in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry to assist in providing comprehensive child and adolescent mental health services to our Neurodevelopmental Team (ND) across the rural and urban areas of Merthyr, Rhondda Cynon Taf and Bridgend.
The successful candidate will join another CAMHS consultant and a multidisciplinary team which comprises Community Paediatricians, a Pharmacist, Specialist Nurses, Therapists and Support Workers.

Main duties of the jobProvide clinical expertise to the Neurodevelopmental Service in particular with cases of complexity in the diagnosis and treatment of Neurodevelopmental Disorder.
Participate in the development of the service model, supporting colleagues in the establishment of a Multi-Disciplinary Service including Pathway Development.
Provide liaison work at all levels with other health staff and community agencies working with children, adolescents and their families.
Provide clinical care located where necessary - for instance clinics based in Special Schools and other community locations.
Work closely with colleagues in Education, Local Authority and 3rd Sector in the delivery of services for Children and Young People with ND Disorders.
Participate in appropriate assessment tools (e.g., ADOS, 3Di) as dictated by the requirements of the service.
Work with the team to ensure robust outcome measures.
Work with the team to ensure excellent performance reporting.
All clinical staff are accountable and responsible for their own clinical competence and should limit their actions to those for which they are deemed competent.
Clinical staff are also required to comply with the requirements of their professional organisations regarding supervision.
Work closely with all agencies involved in child care and observe the local safeguarding procedures.

Job responsibilitiesThe post holder: -
The post holder is ultimately accountable to the medical director but works closely with support and supervision form the Community Paediatric Lead for CYP (Assistant Clinical Director CYP)
Will be expected to comply with the health Boards agreed policies and procedures and to practice in line with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and the General Medical Councils good practice guidelines
Participate in clinical governance and audit.
Clinical governance is a high priority in the health board.
Maintain competence in the use of the Mental Health Act
Provide supervision and support to junior doctors and other members of the ND team.
Participate in teaching, administration and research opportunities, the HB has well stocked libraries at the 3 main admission sites which the post holder will have access to.
Participate in the continuing medical education program provided locally
Perform additional duties in the case of infrequent emergencies.
This would be monitored for annual job planning meetings.
Be available for such irregular commitments outside normally rostered duties as are essential for continuity of patient care.
