Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS TrustThis joint post is for a Consultant Cardiologist with a special interest in heart failure and complex implantable cardiac devices.
The post is for 10 PAs with the appointee based at Whiston Hospital, Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (MWL NHS Trust) with activity at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital (LHCH).
The appointee will be expected to be proficient in the performance of modern cardiac pacing procedures, including brady-pacing, CRT, and ICD implantation.
Applicants are required to hold Membership of the Royal College of Physicians (UK or equivalent qualifications), to be fully registered with the General Medical Council, and to be on the Specialist Register or due to obtain their CCT within six months of the date of interview.

Interviews will take place on Tuesday 28th January 2025 Main duties of the jobThe Job plan is based on a whole time 10 PA appointments: 8 PAs based at Whiston Hospital, MWL NHS Trust (some outpatient clinics are based at St Helen's Hospital, MWL NHS Trust) and 2 PAs at LHCH.
The work schedule will include 7.5 PAs for direct patient care (DCC's) and 2.5 PAs for supporting professional activities (SPAs).
Outpatient clinics have 6 new and 3 follow-up patients at Whiston Hospital, and 5 new and 3 follow-up patients at St. Helens Hospital accounting for travel time.
The post holder will take a lead with the Heart Failure and pacing teams to capture patients requiring complex pacing devices and direct them for appropriate timely therapy in collaboration with the consultants and colleagues at LHCH.
Inpatient responsibilities will be for the Coronary Care Unit while on call and the cardiology ward during routine inpatient care.
There are 17 patients seen on a ward round in CCU and cardiology ward.
The arrangement is subject to review as clinical demand changes.
On-call arrangement will be 1:10 in Whiston hospital and 1:20 for primary PCI at LHCH.
A supplement of 3% is paid for on-call availability.
There are no on-call commitments at LHCH.

Person SpecificationQualificationsFull GMC registration and on Specialist Register or within six months of receipt of Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) or equivalent at time of interview.

Salary: £105,504 to £139,882 a year (Plus 3% On-Call supplement) (Grade YM 72)
