Bradford Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation TrustAn exciting opportunity has arisen to join a well-established team at Bradford Teaching Hospitals as a Consultant Cardiologist. There are two posts available and the successful applicants will join a dynamic and committed team of 7 other Consultants, 5 registrars and a large team of specialist nurses who support the inpatient and outpatient services on Ward 22 at Bradford Royal Infirmary, and at St Luke's Hospital for Outpatients.
There will also be the opportunity to develop the coronary intervention service within the cardiac catheter lab alongside Ward 22, delivering PCI and diagnostic angiography as well as new services such as coronary sinus reducers and microvascular testing.
Main duties of the jobTo develop the acute and general cardiology service.To further develop and expand the interventional service.To supervise and train junior medical staff, specialist nurses and research nurses.To have responsibility for the cardiology in-patient beds.Teaching and administration.To facilitate delivery of undergraduate teaching as directed by the departmental education lead.Job responsibilitiesThe overriding purpose is to support the provision of highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of illness, and the proper functioning of the department.Cover for colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absences.To participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with the other Consultants in the department.Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff including the observance of local employment and human resource policies and procedures.Responsibilities for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally.Person SpecificationExperienceEvidence of completing an approved period of training in Cardiology.QualificationsMBChB or equivalent. MRCP or equivalent to speciality - (UK) or equivalent. CCT or within 6 months of AAC date.
