Job summary Band 6 Community Midwife Do you want to be part of positive transformation within maternity services?Are you passionate about personalisation of care and achieving equality and equity for women and their families?Our service needs a motivated and inspirational Band 6 Midwife to join our maternity team within our community will be a valued member of the team providing personalised care to women throughout their antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal journey.
This post will give you the opportunity to utilise and develop your midwifery skills and care for women in the Abbey Birth Centre and for those women/birthing people birthing at home.
You will have the opportunity to take on antenatal/postnatal clinics and provide postnatal care within families homes.
Main duties of the job Within ASPH we have a range of services.
We provide a homebirth service, an alongside birthing centre, a level 3 Neonatal Unit and high risk maternal and fetal medicine service.
This will give you the opportunity to become skilled in all areas of midwifery.
An MDT approach is always used within these services and we work extremely closely with our NICU team to provide the best outcome for babies that require their care.We pride ourselves in our working culture and the senior leadership team strive to improve the wellbeing and satisfaction of our colleagues.
You will be provided opportunity for development and training within the trust and courses have recently opened a wellbeing hub and staff will have the opportunity to access the onsite gym and other resources.

Job description Job responsibilities The postholder will To be responsible as an autonomous practitioner for assessing, diagnosing and providing professional clinical midwifery care to normal healthy women during the antenatal, intrapartum and postnatal stages without referral to a medical practitioner.
To ensure referral to the appropriate health professional when deviations from the normal occur and to work in partnership with that health professional to ensure safe standards of care.This post may be either hospital or community based with flexibility to move between care settings.When community based, the post holder will be expected to participate in the on call rota/night duty for community.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential Nursing or Midwifery degree or equivalent Registered Midwife ENB 997/8 or equivalent or to achieve within 1 year Experience Essential Experience as a qualified midwife and all clinical competencies achieved Clinical experience in a busy NHS hospital (or equivalent) Experience of working with technologies commonly used in the NHS (or equivalent) Desirable Data collection and audit Experience of working in community setting Knowledge Essential NHS Constitution Trust vision, values and strategic objectives Current midwifery standards and best practice Evidence based practice and its implementation Current issues effecting Maternity Services Clinical governance and risk management issues Philosophies of care for low and high risk women Understanding of national policies and guidelines including Clinical risk management, CNST and NICE Desirable Issues currently facing the NHS and Ashford and St Peter's Hospitals NHS Trust Trust vision, values, strategic objectives and key work programmes Skills Essential You have knowledge & awareness of diversity and human rights as appropriate to your role You are able to communicate effectively to ensure high standards of care, treatment, service or support as appropriate to your role Be able to understand an individual's communication, physical & emotional needs; recognise their needs and preferences Able to provide a customer focussed service Excellent verbal and written communication skills IT and keyboard skills at a basic level Time management skills and able to remain calm and function effectively under pressure Able to be flexible in the workplace Demonstrable ability to work competently with commonly used technologies Able to effectively manage risk Desirable Car driver Demonstrable leadership skills Ability to motivate others Other Essential Able to demonstrate that you are honest, reliable and trustworthy Treat patients, visitors, colleagues with respect Ability to travel between Trust sites Ability to be flexible to meet the needs of the team, the service and the Trust
