Wycombe Homeless Connection is a Christian-led charity based in south Buckinghamshire that works to end homelessness in our community.
We make a difference to the lives of local people, stopping homelessness before it starts through our innovative homelessness prevention programmes and reducing the harm homelessness can do with our frontline support and health projects. Our vision is that south Buckinghamshire is transformed into a place where no one loses their home and that there is suitable housing and housing security for all.
About the role We have an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual to join our small fundraising and marketing team. Wycombe Homeless Connection (WHC) benefits from a wide range of community support which we want to nurture and grow by providing excellent support to people who fundraise for us in different ways. You'll build relationships with individuals, community groups, businesses, schools, faith groups and other local organisations to encourage their support for the charity. And you'll ensure we participate as WHC in community events and deliver more of our own inspiring and engaging events.
Our Community and Events Fundraising Officer will oversee this work, alongside building and nourishing our team of volunteers to take part in and lead events. The officer will work with our Communications Officer among others to give everyone who works with and volunteers for us, a brilliant experience of joining WHC in its mission.
The role is part-time, 30 hours a week, and there is a need to work weekends and evenings to deliver/support events. At the moment we run/attend about 10 - 15 WHC events on evenings and weekends each year.
Because this role is about communicating our vision and mission in a variety of contexts including in churches and faith groups, there is an occupational requirement that the post-holder be a Christian. This is in accordance with Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010. No two days are the same! Activities can include: Delivering our WHC events including our annual Big Sleepout, an annual service of thanksgiving and an annual showcase of our work. Taking a WHC stand to community-led events like the Beaconsfield Country Fayre, FrogFest (a music festival in Wycombe), Christmas light switch-on events, local village fayres and fetes. Sharing news about the services we offer, making sure people know about us so they can get any help they might need. This might include going to Bucks New Uni's Fresher's Fayre, a school's wellbeing day, and health and wellbeing drop-in sessions at community buildings. Supporting people running their own community events with advice and equipment to run their events. For example, you might work with the local Women's Institute to run their cake and craft stand, or a school running a Christmas carol street collection who might need collecting buckets and help applying for a street collection licence. You might work with a business wanting to fulfil their corporate social responsibilities through supporting our work who are looking for advice and opportunities to be part of our vision. Supporting people taking on personal challenges, like running a marathon or climbing a mountain, who need help with registering their place, setting up fundraising pages and other support during their challenge. As well as offering a competitive salary, we are a compassionate employer. We are happy to explore flexible hours and working locations with all our staff. We offer regular wellbeing activities including retreat days, social events and more. You'll join our free employee assistance programme through which you get access to free counselling, legal advice a 24/7 GP helpline and more. We have a generous leave package, starting at 25 days per year plus bank holidays. We will focus on your training and professional development.
Please note that we are unable to consider applicants who do not presently have permission to work in the UK.
We welcome and encourage job applications from people of all backgrounds. We are committed to continue building an environment that embraces diversity.
