About the role and about you Historic Royal Palaces (HRP) is the independent charity that loves and looks after six of the most wonderful palaces in the world.
The palaces are the setting for the stories that shape us all, and we're bringing them to people in ways that mean more to them.
We want everyone to find themselves in the spaces and stories we share.
Our gardens play an important part in attracting visitors and we want to be able to grow this engagement in line with our ambition to be a charity for everyone.
To this end, we are looking for a skilled and suitably qualified hands-on Gardener to help develop and deliver an exceptional community engagement programme with our Community Partnerships team, utilising the outdoor spaces at Hampton Court Palace.
This role will enable the widest possible audience (including those underrepresented or those who experience barriers) to learn about, discover, explore, share, enjoy and contribute to the gardens and estate at Hampton Court Palace as well as sharing skills and expertise to further the development of nature/environment/outdoor wellbeing programmes at other sites.
With at least a RHS level 2 in Horticulture or equivalent, the ideal candidate will have experience of successfully planning, coordinating, adapting, and delivering nature, heritage, and wellbeing activities in person and online for a variety of audience groups, as well as of writing proposals and internal and external reports.
With in depth knowledge of horticulture, ecology, natural heritage, and outdoor learning and how to make these accessible and inclusive to diverse audiences, including awareness of safeguarding children, young people, and adults at risk, they will have excellent communication and presentation skills.
They will also be highly organised, with the ability to prioritise a heavy workload, and have excellent problem-solving skills.
The role would suit a team player with a proactive and flexible approach to work, and enthusiasm and curiosity for nature, wildlife and heritage.
