The Scottish Institute for Policing Research (SIPR) based at Edinburgh Napier University , is a strategic collaboration between Scotlands Universities along with Police Scotland and the Scottish Police Authority.
The institute aims to support internationally excellent, multi-disciplinary policing research, to enable evidence informed policy and practice.
3PO (Protecting public-facing professionals and their dependents online) is a UKRI funded project which aims to fill the theoretical and application gaps in knowledge about the protection of citizens online, by focusing on police officers as public-facing professionals.
The focus is on the impact of peoples' professional roles for their personal, private lives online.
SIPR is leading the dissemination work package for this project.
Currently, we have a new opportunity for a Communication & Engagement Officer to join us on a part-time, fixed term basis (35 months, hybrid working), to deliver the communications and engagement activities related to SIPR and the 3PO project.
The Role: The role of Communication & Engagement Officer is varied and rewarding, and one which will allow you to use your experience of working within a communications/dissemination environment to create targeted, engaging, and up-to-date content, including copy, imagery, video and information for online/offline platforms.
Your strong understanding of social media channels and experience of creating and scheduling content for different audiences will serve you well, as you manage and monitor a variety of digital platforms, while meeting both user requirements and brand/style guidelines.
You will also have the remit to use your excellent communication skills (including being able to write effectively for a diverse range of audiences) to lead a range of public and media engagements, including creating and disseminating media releases, briefings, and optimising visibility and awareness of activities and outputs.
Furthermore, you will be in an ideal position to use your experience of organising events to deliver a range of in-person/ online/ hybrid events including academic/ practitioner conferences, world cafés, symposia, and police round tables, including venue sourcing, catering, and scheduling as well as effective on-the-day management to ensuring smooth running of the event.

What we will need from you: - HND/ HNC in relevant discipline or equivalent demonstrable experience working in a similar role - Experience of working within a communications/ dissemination environment delivering on agreed objectives and operational priorities - Experience of organising/delivering events as well as hosting/producing podcasts.
