This post is within the Children's Commissioning Team in Bury. We are looking for a commissioning and contracts officer to undertake a range of tendering activities to support the work of the Children's department. This includes the market development of providers, development of service specifications, management of tenders, setting up of contracts and contract monitoring.
In this role you will have specific responsibility for the commissioning of placements for those young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND) in further education and specialist colleges. This will include negotiating with colleges and providers to ensure value for money with support packages and monitoring providers to ensure they are meeting their contractual requirements and delivering outcomes. This will also involve working closely with the SEN caseworkers to ensure the progress of students and their successful transition from college into adulthood.
You will work very closely with a range of professionals and staff managers in children's and adult services, SEN case workers, children's social workers and others in health.
For this post you will need to have: a knowledge and understanding of children's services experience of commissioning and negotiation strong interpersonal skills for working with colleges, providers, partners and with teams within the Council and health. We are looking for someone who is pro-active with initiative and who will work well in a rewarding role as part of our small, busy team.
Normal hours of work are 29.6 hours per week (equivalent four days) based around the usual business working week but there is some flexibility to discuss hours.
