Hotel Café Royal, a world-renowned 5-star luxury hotel in the heart of London, is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Commis Chef to join our talented culinary team.
With four diverse and prestigious food and beverage outletsincluding Barbounia , The Grill Room , and Cakes & Bubbles by Albert Adrialongside banqueting services and 24-hour in-room dining, this role provides an exciting opportunity to develop your culinary skills in a dynamic and supportive environment.
As a Commis Chef, you will assist in preparing high-quality dishes across various sections of the kitchen.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn from some of the best in the industry while contributing to the delivery of exceptional dining experiences for our guests.
Key Responsibilities: Assist in the preparation and presentation of dishes for all outlets, including modern Mediterranean cuisine, afternoon tea specialties, banqueting menus, and in-room dining.
Support the team in maintaining consistency and excellence in every dish served.
Ensure all mise en place is completed to the highest standard, preparing ingredients as required for service.
Help maintain smooth and efficient service by keeping workstations organized and fully stocked.
Collaborate with chefs to support the smooth operation of all kitchen sections.
Adapt to different areas of the kitchen, gaining exposure to various culinary techniques and specialties.
Maintain a clean and safe working environment, adhering to all food safety and hygiene standards.
Ensure proper handling and storage of all food products in line with regulations.
Work closely with the kitchen team to support seamless service delivery.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and take on feedback to improve skills and performance.
Be adaptable to work across different shifts, including weekends and bank holidays, as part of a 5-day workweek (47 hours).
Requirements: Previous experience in a professional kitchen or a culinary qualification is preferred but not essential; a passion for food and eagerness to learn is key.
Basic knowledge of cooking techniques and kitchen operations.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
A positive attitude with a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.
Impeccable grooming and presentation, in keeping with luxury hospitality standards.
A proactive approach and willingness to learn from experienced chefs.
