We currently have an opportunity for a Pre-Contract Commercial Manager to join our growing engineering team in Birmingham (noting that we are flexible on location and hybrid working arrangements).
This position within our team will suit a committed and ambitious professional who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in growing the business.
With a focus on the design of High Speed and conventional rail infrastructure the role will also support other Product Lines as appropriate, the post-holder will be part of a growing UK team delivering projects for a diverse portfolio of UK clients.
The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate a range of practical work experience in the commercial management of projects or providing commercial management support of work winning functions in the rail / infrastructure sectors.
Previous experience of reviewing and negotiating contract documents with prospective Clients and supply chain partners is advantageous although for the right candidate we would be flexible to consider candidates who are suitably experienced in the Commercial Management of projects and are looking to move into a pre-contract commercial role.
Main Duties Reviewing contractual documentation including non-disclosure agreements, MOU's, Teaming Agreements, and bespoke / standard form professional services contracts (including NEC3/4 PSC/PSSC) Explore and suggest value engineering opportunities to optimize costs without compromising quality Collaborate with the bid team to prepare and review tender documents Developing open/trusting commercial relationships with internal stakeholders, design joint venture partners, Contractors as well as end user clients.
Support the Pre-Contract Commercial Team in the pre-contract commercial requirements of assigned opportunities.
Liaise closely with the SYSTRA legal team on bids for their review and approval of contracts prior to seeking approval of such from the relevant delegation holder.
Assess and analyse project requirements and risks Undertake commercial risk assessment of bid contract documents, terms, and conditions.
Determine and successfully negotiate suitable amendments to contract documents, terms and conditions with Clients and Supply Chain Partners.
Support the bidding process including the negotiation of NDAs, MoUs, Teaming Agreements, Tender Design Services Agreement, Design Services Agreement, and Joint Venture Agreements.
In conjunction with the Pre-Contract Senior Commercial Manager and Commercial Director, set and discharge bid / project commercial strategies where appropriate.
Support the post-contract handover to the project commercial team, engaging with clients and partners where issues require escalation.
Monthly commercial reporting as required.
Ensure adherence to SYSTRA commercial processes; change management, risk management, etc.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed above, the job holder is required to perform other duties assigned by their manager from time to time.
An important part of the role will include working with the resources across the project – from local resources to those based in the rest of the UK and potentially worldwide.
