We are currently looking for a Commercial Manager to join Core Highways.
This is a remote role but will require regular nationwide travel.
The role: Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be overseeing the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with clients, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Responsibilities: Overseeing the preparation, negotiation, and management of contracts with our clients, suppliers and subcontractors whilst working closely with our depots, regional and project managers to ensure that the work being conducted has been optimised to profitability and high standards.
You will need to monitor the projects performance against forecasts and financial performance through the effective use of cost value reporting (CVR), clearly capturing commercial big strategies and communicating them to our delivery teams.
You will need to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, and suppliers to facilitate successful project delivery.
Internally build and maintain strong relationships and networks across the newly formed commercial centre of excellence as well as operations, finance, and technical leaders.
Mentoring the commercial team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continue improvement.
Identifying and securing new business opportunities, contributing to the growth and expansion of the company.
You will need to be able to effectively identify and manage commercial risks, ensuring the compliance with industry standards and minimising potential liabilities.
Continuously seeking ways to improve processes and enhance efficiency.
Knowledge, skills, and experience: Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Business Administration or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a commercial management role within the highways or civil engineering sector covering a variety of Forms of Contract.
Familiar with the NEC4 forms of contracts would be beneficial Experience with CEMAR's change of notification platform would be advantageous Strong understanding of contracts, commercial principles and legal frameworks.
Proven track record in managing project budgets and achieving financial targets.
Excellent negotiation, communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously Professional qualifications such as MRICS or equivalent are desirable.
Traffic Management experience would be good but is not a prerequisite.
