We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Commercial Lead.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading and executing key commercial strategies that drive revenue, market expansion, and long-term business success.
This position is ideal for a motivated, strategic thinker with a strong background in business development, sales, and commercial operations.
Day-to-Day Duties Proactively lead the delivery of commercial advice and activity across the full commercial lifecycle, from commercial strategy to contract exit, ensuring the approach is informed by organizational objectives and commercial risks.
Ensure that all team members (including advisors) understand their individual and collective responsibilities and that their output directly contributes to and aligns with the organization's priorities and objectives.
Apply skills in supporting, coaching, enabling, and facilitating to create and develop more leaders.
Develop individual and collective leadership skills, with a focus on interpersonal, team, and relationship-building abilities.
Develop and maintain the pipeline and contract register for the portfolio, ensuring proactive engagement with stakeholders for effective oversight.
Work collaboratively with other stakeholders and functions, including Finance, PMO, Legal, and Technical colleagues, to provide a seamless service offering.
Act as an Intelligent Customer to ensure that stakeholder needs and expectations are understood and met.
Establish effective methods to capture lessons learned and mitigate future risks.
Principal Duties Lead the development of contract strategies and proposed procurement routes for all requirements within your remit.
Develop commercial strategies and negotiate terms and conditions that protect the organization's commercial position while ensuring compliance with governance.
Support regular commercial reporting required by stakeholders, including government bodies and legal obligations.
Contribute to the enhancement of commercial capabilities through effective stakeholder engagement and by supporting the development of the Commercial Directorate.
Support the development of cost estimates for all procurements within your remit.
Lead a small team to provide commercial support and intervention across the full lifecycle for contracts, memoranda of understanding, and grants, acting as the first line of defense.
Promote collaboration and share best practices across the organization and with external stakeholders.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required UK public sector-specific knowledge and experience is preferable.
Evidence of experience across the commercial lifecycle, from requirement development to post-contract management.
Demonstrated track record of leading and working as part of a Commercial Team, procuring and administering complex contracts.
Highly developed commercial skills and a demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on high-value matters to secure value for money.
Proven understanding of procurement, contract performance measurement, risk management, and change management.
Evidence of influencing senior stakeholders and/or suppliers to support commercial solutions in a complex commercial environment.
Ability to successfully build capability within a commercial function.
Background in major infrastructure or the nuclear sector is desirable.
Proficiency in common office software packages and commercial systems is preferable.
Qualifications A degree-level education is essential.
CIPS/IACCM/RICS qualification is desirable.
