Description: Commercial Counsel – 5-7 years PQE – Belfast (Hybrid)Marsh McLennan has an exciting opportunity for a Global Procurement Lawyer looking to progress their career within the world's leading professional services firm in risk, strategy and people.The position would likely be suitable for a candidate with previous experience in commercial/contract work cross-border, ideally with a privacy/technology background.

By combining deep industry knowledge, innovative solutions, and a commitment to excellence, MMC strives to deliver exceptional value and make a positive impact on businesses and communities worldwide.What can you expect:As a Global Procurement Lawyer at MMC, you will play a crucial role in providing legal support and guidance to our global procurement functionBased in the Belfast office, you will be the lead lawyer negotiating vendor contracts on a global basis for MMC as well as the Marsh and Mercer businessesYou will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, negotiating and drafting procurement contracts, and managing legal risks associated with procurement activities across our global operations This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, collaborating with cross-functional teams and contributing to the success of our global procurement functionSitting within the Marsh Mercer Legal team, you would work closely with the business and the vendor management team on day-to-day contractual and strategic procurement matters.
The role will also involve being a key contributor to the development our risk positions in this areaWhat's in it for you?Competitive Benefits Package including: 27 days annual leave including up to 4 days of flexible bank holidaysExcellent pension contributions, private medical cover, life assurance, income protectionEmployee assistance program, plus a range of flexible benefits including the option to buy or sell up to 5 days holiday per year, cycle to work, dental insurance, health assessments plus many moreWe will count on you to:Being the lead lawyer to support on vendor contracts globallyWorking closely with the global contracting centres of excellence (currently based in Belfast and Toronto)Supporting the wider vendor management team with internal projects and various legal mattersDrafting, reviewing and negotiating vendor agreements and ancillary legal documentationSupporting the legal team in maintaining template agreements, playbooks and implementing process developmentsConfidently liaising with the business on day-to-day contractual queries and leading on key vendor negotiationsWhat you need to have: 5-7 years+ PQEExcellent organisational skills and attention to detailDocument drafting and negotiation skillsStrong commercial acumen with an ability to deliver clear and pragmatic solutions Ability to effectively identify risk issues and escalate upwards, as appropriatePrevious experience working in a fast-paced environment, manging multiple deadlines and tasksEffectively able to prioritise work by understanding competing demands and making appropriate judgments regarding relative importanceExcellent communication skills with the ability to manage expectations wellConfidently able to communicate with various stakeholders both internally and externallyExperience working with data protection legislation and negotiating DPAsMaintain up-to-date legal knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislationAble to take initiative, is proactive and confidently able to take ownership of matters and develop selfA team player that offers to help colleagues and shares workloadUnderstand the various business offerings within the organisationIT skills – experience with Microsoft Office.Enthusiastic and looking to develop a long-term career in-house.LLB or equivalent legal qualification.What makes you stand out?
