Job overview As a member of the nursing team, you will assist registered members of staff to deliver a highstandard of care to patients in the ward/clinical area demonstrating compassion, kindnessand sensitivity.Work as an integral part of the OPD team and be responsible for day to day runningof outpatient clinicsManage and maintain the online booking system for the clinic rooms within theoutpatient setting.Provide high quality and safe care to patients attending OPD.
Be alert to frail patientsand provide refreshments, pressure relieving aids and/or assistance to toilet.To maintain the dignity and privacy of all patients and respect their right to confidentiality atall times.To complete and maintain on an ongoing basis a portfolio of clinical competencies.
Toreview progress with ward manager and team leader/supervisor at regular intervals andthrough appraisal process.Undertake action required in emergencies as directed by trained nursesMaintain a safe, well stocked, clean and comfortable environment for patients, staffand visitors.
Main duties of the job You will undertake the following duties under the supervision of a registered practitioner.
Communication:To establish and maintain good relationships with patients, relatives and colleagues througheffective verbal and non-verbal communication, demonstrating empathy and ability tomanage conflict or potentially challenging situations.To help patients and visitors orientate themselves to their surroundings when in theoutpatient department, tailored to their specific needs.To answer telephone calls appropriately and efficiently, accurately relaying messages.Contact patients and visitors and instruct them on attending the department followingCOVID guidanceHave a good understanding of IT systems.Undertake agreed aspects of clerical work relating to patients and the outpatientdepartment including gathering and filing notes.
