Job summary Applications are invited from Band 3 Clinical Support Workers who wish to provide dynamic support to the surgeons anaesthetists and the theatre teams.
This post is looking to strengthen the structure within the Friarage theatre team and both scrub/Anaesthetic & Recovery positions are availableThe operating department at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton currently comprises of 5 main in-patient/day case theatres and a recovery area.
The Friarage is currently undergoing an exciting development of a brand new Surgical Hub which will offer state of the art technologies and an a modern working will increase the theatre complex to 6 main theatres,2 minor ops theatres, a 2 bay regional anaesthetic area and a 10 bay recovery area with onsite admission and discharge areas.
Main duties of the job The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities: General Surgery, Gynaecology, Urology, Plastic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Maxillo-facial ,ENT and Ophthalmic.
You will need to be an active member of the multidisciplinary team by demonstrating a range of essential skills to meet the needs of the patient in a safe caring environment that promotes evidence based practice.
The Friarage Hospital in Northallerton has an opportunity for enthusiastic, dynamic and motivated Clinical Support Workers to join our multi speciality elective theatre suites.
Post holders will be appointed at band 2 or band 3 depending upon qualifications.
Band 2 requirements - willingness to undertake all relevant training and qualifications if wishing to develop into a band 3 role.
Band 3 requirements - Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 or GCSE equivalent (A-C/ 4-9) Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3; - Theoretical knowledge - Experience of a range of care and related procedures - clinical observations - knowledge of relevant legislation There is a clear framework to allow for postholders to develop from a band 2 to band 3 and this includes completion of the qualifications.

Person Specification Knowledge Essential Excellent interpersonal, communication & active listening skills.
Ability to adopt appropriate styles & methods of communication Timekeeping, planning & prioritisation skills.
Basic IT skills to use electronic patient records & other Trust systems.
Analytical and judgement skills to make decisions based on patient / service user interactions and observations and metrics.
Working knowledge of legislation underpinning care provision.
Qualification Band 3 Essential Numeracy and Literacy Level 2 Care certificate Level 3 vocational qualification or Short courses and completion of competency workbook equivalent to Level 3 in a range of patient and clinical care duties and/or Equivalent knowledge and experience in a range of clinical care duties equivalent to Level 3.
-Theoretical knowledge -Experience of a range of care and related procedures -clinical observations -knowledge of relevant legislation Qualification Band 2 Essential Must complete the care certificate within the 6 months probationary period and 'on the job training'; instruction will be provided - this is an NHS entry level requirement.
Experience Essential Experience of working in health or social care.
Experience of undertaking and recording clinical observations and escalation of changes or findings.
