Clinical Specialist Speech And Language Therapist (Stroke)

Job summary As part of the continued development in Stroke Services across North Wales, we have an exciting opportunity to welcome a Highly Specialist SLT for Stroke into our adult team.
The successful candidate will take a lead role in providing and developing Acute SLT services, working with the integrated stroke team to develop care across the stroke pathway, including early supported discharge.This post is a transition post, and we encourage applications from band 6 Speech and Language Therapists who are looking to further develop their clinical skills.
In return, we will offer a competency based development programme, with a mentor and enhanced supervision to enable the successful applicant to progress from band 6 to the band 7 post within an agreed timeframe.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will have extensive experience in assessment, diagnosis, treatment and quality of life interventions across acute, community and domiciliary settings, as well as with third sector organisations.
He/ she will be able to demonstrate evidence of clinical leadership such as leading in service development projects, clinical audit, and in implementing service change programmes.
He/ she will be committed to working in a multi professional team and demonstrate highly developed communication and negotiation skills within this forum.Our department has established systems for supporting professional and managerial supervision and mentoring, and is committed to supporting professional development.The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; English and/or Welsh speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S< HCPC registered Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level Able to demonstrate continuing professional development up to date, relevant CPD portfolio.
Clinical supervisory skills training Desirable Membership of appropriate clinical network group Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate Experience Essential Significant experience clinically in area of specialism Experience of clinical leadership Delegation to qualified and non-registered staff Experience of delivering clinical education in area of specialty Evidence of teaching within post Significant experience of leading multidisciplinary / multiprofessional teams Involvement in clinical audit Evidence of attendance on specialist short courses and advanced training in relation to clinical specialty Desirable Continuing Professional Development Welsh / English therapy provision Experience of lecturing externally Experience of project management Additional clinical or health care related experience Experience in leading service development / improvement Experience in research Knowledge and skills Essential Excellent interpersonal skills Ability to problem-solve Knowledge of assessment tools for Adult / Paediatric disorders Ability to self-evaluate Prioritisation skills Extensive clinical experience and knowledge in relationship to specialty Desirable Alternative and Augmentative Communication knowledge & skills Welsh speaker
