Job summary We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Specialist into the Children and Young People Eating Disorder Service across North Yorkshire and York.Candidate must hold registration with relevant professional body (eg.
NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England).The successful applicant will have the opportunity to become part of a specialised multi disciplinary team comprising of Consultant Psychiatrists, Nurses, Social Workers, Clinical Psychologists, Family Therapists and Dietitians who provide assessment and therapeutic intervention to young people with eating disorders and their families.To apply for this role you will have experience in children's mental health services and/or eating disorder services.
You will also have an understanding of relevant legislation ( Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act), detailed understanding of Safeguarding and Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice.
Main duties of the job The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team; ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of care across all aspects of the service.
The nature of this work requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations alongside a willingness to be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering clinical care.The successful applicant will be required to contribute to and lead ongoing service development and offer clinical supervision to staff members.
The ability to make balanced decisions and use positive risk taking approaches, whilst managing potentially high pressured situations is an essential part of this role.Acting as a resource in providing specialist advice, training, guidance and consultation to the team and partner agencies is also an integral aspect of the role.
The applicant will be an essential member of the multi disciplinary team and will be able to facilitate the co-coordination of care on a multi disciplinary basis to children and young people.

Job description Job responsibilities The Clinical Specialist will take a lead role in delivery of clinical service to young people and their families.
This will include supervision of clinicians and playing an active role in clinical decision making along with other clinicians.
The post holder will have responsibility for providing clinical leadership to colleagues in assessment, treatment and management of young people with eating disorders.
The role will involve providing specialist assessment and clinically proven, evidence based interventions to children and young people.
It is expected that the post holder will spend 60% or more time in the delivery of direct/indirect clinical care.
The post holder will provide expert care and support to all children, young people and families referred to the service providing evidenced based interventions based on need.
The post holder will also formulate plans of care and negotiate implementations of such plans and the sharing of complex, sensitive, confidential and at times contentious information.

Person Specification Education/Qualifications and Experience Essential Registration with relevant professional body.
( NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England) For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and /or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent andTrained in providing clinical supervision Trained in providing clinical supervision For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees.
All professions - Postgraduate diploma (or above) in a subject relevant to the area of practice or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years.. A recognised advanced clinical qualification or Masters level credits , Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP dysphagia, posture, autism assessment, rebound, social prescribing, sensory processing, Approved Mental Health Professional, Practice Educator (level 3 Independent Prescriber) * Note any other advanced qualification/masters credits not listed here as an example, must be clearly evidenced and listed as "advanced qualification or masters credits" - within the individuals application form Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months.
Experience of assessing and managing risk (harm to self, others and safeguarding) Substantial experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Involvement in quality improvement activities Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD Desirable Leadership Qualification Experience Essential Relevant experience within a Mental Health Service specialty.
Experience of working in a community setting.
Clinical supervisory experience and willingness to provide clinical supervision.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Essential Extensive knowledge of patients who display high risk behaviours.
Demonstrate understanding of inter-agency relationships.
Excellent written communication skills which are clearly demonstrated.
Desirable Psychological intervention.
