Job summary We are offering an opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced Clinical Specialist to join our Early Intervention in Psychosis Team based in Chester Le Street Health Centre.
Our service covers the North Durham area.The successful candidate will be an active member for the Senior Leadership team whilst clinically leading the team and supporting with service improvement and operational duties when required.The successful candidate will provide daily leadership to other members of the multi-disciplinary team and will be involved in the ongoing review and development of the service.
This will involve working effectively with other leadership colleagues and external stakeholders.There will be an expectation that you will be involved in the assessment, formulation, and treatment of those accessing the service.
Main duties of the job To be the professional lead for practitioners in the designated specialty, leading on professional development and ensuring the delivery of robust evidence based practice.To lead the establishment of systems that support the development of clinical practice, to ensure that the developments are embedded within the team and are sustainable.To ensure high professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the Governing Bodies with professional accountability to the Nursing and Governance Directorate.To lead the planning, implementation and participation in training and educational activities relevant to Practice Development for Practitioners in the designated specialty.To support the team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework.To undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence-based practice.
Undertakes research as part of the role.To co-ordinate and deliver clinical supervision to support all staff within the area of responsibility.To promote at all times a positive image of people with mental health conditions and learning disabilities.Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.

Clinical Responsibilities Undertake some new patient assessments per service.
Within professional framework prescribe and review medication if appropriate to registration of the post holder.
Provide highly specialised advice about a patients mental health needs, Provide specialist advice, guidance and consultation to other staff contributing directly to clients assessment, formulation and intervention plan.

( NMC, GMC, HCPC, Social Work-England) For nursing professions - Recognised Practice Supervisor and /or Practice Assessor, clinical educator or equivalent and Trained in providing clinical supervision For other professions - evidence of training in clinical supervision of other staff and able to demonstrate competence in this area of practice in clinical supervision of other staff and/or students/ trainees.
All professions - Postgraduate diploma (or above) in a subject relevant to the area of practice.
Or in the absence of postgraduate qualification o Willingness to work towards a postgraduate diploma within 2 years and A recognised advanced clinical qualification or Masters level credits , Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP dysphagia, posture, autism assessment, rebound, social prescribing, sensory processing, Approved Mental Health Professional, Practice Educator (level 3 Independent Prescriber) * Note any other advanced qualification/masters credits not listed here as an example, must be clearly evidenced and listed as "advanced qualification or masters credits" - within the individuals application form Substantial clinical experience of working in relevant specialist area in collaboration with service users, families and relevant others or transferable experience of similar settings and willing to gain knowledge within first 12 months.
Experience of assessing and managing risk (harm to self, others and safeguarding) Substantial experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team Involvement in quality improvement activities Knowledge Essential Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally Experience of application of relevant legislation (, Mental Health Act and Mental Capacity Act) in practice.
Experience of working within Early Intervention in Psychosis services Essential Experience working within EIP services
