Job summary This is an excitingopportunity for a motivated nurse to join our existing team to undertakeclinical research in respiratory diseases.
The portfolio includes observationalstudies, clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs) andmedical device trials.
Research areas include lung cancer, pleural diseases,COPD, asthma, Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, bronchiectasis, chronic cough, andrespiratory sleep and breathing disorders.
Co-ordination and the provision ofcare for participants on the trials, the collection and preparation ofbiological samples and collection of trial data are key elements of the role.
Main duties of the job The post holderwill be responsible for the day-to-day management of the respiratorytrials/studies allocated to them.
They will be expected take part in allaspects of respiratory care & trial assessments, including spirometry,phlebotomy, ECGs, observations and history taking.
They will also need to:Haveexcellent record keeping skills and maintain files and notes accurately.
Educatepatients re: medication use and completing diaries and train relevant healthcare workers regarding trial protocols.
Liaisewith the multidisciplinary team and trial monitors.
Attendrelevant training which sometimes requires travelSupportthe research team to recruit patients into respiratory trials under theguidance of the local investigator, attendingmeetings and clinics as necessaryEvaluate eligibility of potential patients against trial inclusion and exclusion criteriaSupportthe clinicians in gaining informed consent, undertaking randomisation,treatment allocation as stipulated in the trial protocol Coordinate and undertake patient study visits liaisingwith the patient, study doctor and other Oxford University Hospital FoundationTrust departments (, Radiology, Lung Function) as required.
