Job summary Help us make a difference to people with life-limiting illnesses...We have a fantastic opportunity for a Registered Nurse to join our Clinical Education Team as a Clinical Practice Educator.The hours will be worked over three days, to be agreed, with some flexibility required to cover for colleagues.
You will be working across our three hospice sites in Coventry, Warwick and Rugby.We are seeking a Registered Nurse with:Experience of palliative and end of life careExperience of formal teaching and supporting learners in a clinical setting, including assessingAdvanced Communication Skills course (or willing to take this)Communication, team building, facilitation, IT, organisational and interpersonal skillsCurrent NMC PINThe right to work in the UK (we cannot support with sponsorship)This role will require an enhanced DBS check including the adults barred list because you will be instructing staff members in regulated activity with adults.

The Clinical Practice Educator will work clinically alongside new members of the nursing team during their induction period.If required, the post holder will be trainedto support the delivery of mandatory Basic Life Support and Patient Moving andHandling training.Main Duties &ResponsibilitiesTo promote high quality, holistic, person-centred end of life care by identifying and developing the skills and knowledge required for the Nursing and Allied Health Professionals within the Inpatient Units (IPUs), Well-being and Myton at Home servicesWork clinically alongside members of the nursing team within the inpatient units (IPUs) Myton at Home and well-being services to support needs as identified by line managersProvide practical education and training, including assessing clinical nursing competenciesAct as a role model to demonstrate high quality and safe patient careDirectly supervise/support the induction of nurses new in post to ensure they have appropriate learning opportunities, including support and guidance with electronic patient recordsSupport the lead mandatory trainer in delivering Adult and Paediatric Basic Life Support and AED training to all clinical staff and provide advice as requiredSupport the lead mandatory trainer in delivering Patient Moving and Handling training to all clinical staff and provide advice as requiredInspire and influence the professional growth of Mytons clinical workforceProvide support and guidance to new members of the nursing team with electronic patient records and formsKeep accurate records of training delivered and achievement of competenciesSupport and encourage link nurses to fulfil their rolePromote an environment whereby succession planning becomes integral to the way we workSupport the Research Nurse in implementing research-based learning into practice, and encouraging a culture of inquiry and research awarenessWith support from the Clinical Education Lead, design and deliver the in-house education programme in collaboration with Clinical Practice Educator colleagueSupport the Clinical Education Lead to deliver education and training programmes to external organisationsUndertake relevant activities to maintain own clinical competencyMaintain awareness of current developments in end of life care, and apply them appropriatelyQuality, Safety & GovernanceSupport the Clinical Governance and Quality Lead with implementation of the annual audit programmeEnsurethat documentation is completed accurately and legibly in accordance with NMCguidance, the organisations information governance guidance and confidentialityis maintained using CaldecottGuidelines.Create and maintaina culture where the reporting of concerns, incidents and complaints areencouraged and documented promptly, ensuring that clinical adverse events,incidents and complaints are fully investigated and shared learning isundertakenMaintain detailedand accurate records including collecting, collating and reporting on data toensure high quality service delivery and ongoing service development in linewith local and national initiatives.ProfessionalBe responsible for owncontinued professional development, maintaining up to date evidence-based knowledge, including anawareness of the national and localinfluences affecting palliative and end of lifecare.Ensure own compliance withmandatory training and professional development requirements, maintainingrecords of training and development undertaken for self in preparation for NMCrevalidation Person Specification Qualifications Essential Registered Nurse with current NMC registration Willing to undertake Instructor training for Basic Life Support and Patient Moving & Handling Advanced communication skills course or willing to undertake Other Essential Valid UK driving licence and use of own vehicle for work / ability to travel across all three of our sites and to external venues in Coventry & Warwickshire The right to work in the UK (we cannot support with sponsorship) Knowledge Essential Understanding of current issues and documents relating to end of life care Up to date knowledge of current clinical and professional issues Skills and Attributes Essential Excellent verbal and written communication skills The physical capability required for practical patient moving & handling Excellent interpersonal, facilitation and team building skills Reflective practitioner Able to organise, plan, prioritise and meet deadlines Excellent IT skills, including use of PowerPoint Recent experience of teaching or using a range of clinical skills Proactive and enthusiastic Desirable Creative approach to learning Experience Essential Experience of working in a palliative care setting Experience of supporting learners in the clinical setting, including assessing Experience of formal teaching to groups Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to own learning Desirable Evidence of implementing change in clinical practice
