You will work as part of a team delivering respiratory diagnostics alongside the broader multi-disciplinary team giving exceptional care to a complex and diverse group of patients.
This role is suitable for a fully qualified Physiologist to join us working as a Band 6 Senior Physiologist.

As a Band 5 Physiologists you will collaborate with the existing team to develop the necessary skills and competencies for progression to Band 6.
Main duties of the job As the Band 6 Respiratory Physiologist you will work with the Lead Respiratory Physiologist & Physiology Service Manager delivering the Respiratory Physiology & Sleep Services.
You will: Independently perform the full range of Pulmonary Function tests and sleep diagnostic tests Assist senior Physiologists with more complex tests- CPET, bronchial challenge testing and Hypoxic challenge testing Coordinate CPAP set-up, follow up and troubleshooting under the guidance of Senior Respiratory Physiologists Accurately maintain equipment databases for the nebuliser loan service and sleep service.
Maintain and calibrate Respiratory Physiology equipment and device Assist with development of Junior Physiologists and Apprentice Physiologists If you are joining us through the Band 5 Respiratory Physiologist developmental pathway, whilst working towards ARTP accreditation you will: Under the supervision of Senior Physiologists undertake routine diagnostic Pulmonary Function Tests to Include Spirometry, reversibility studies, Transfer Factor Issue and download various Sleep diagnostic tests Assist the Senior Respiratory Physiologists with CPAP set-up, follow up and troubleshooting About us Why Work With Us The Respiratory Physiology team is based within the Heart and Lung Unit, at Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust.
We currently undertake aproximately 3000 diagnostic tests per annum.
Since the Sleep Service became physiologist led in 2016, approximately 1700 new patients have been seen in clinic and we have over 2200 patients with home CPAP in the community.
Job description Job responsibilities To be eligible for the Band 5 Respiratory Physiology Developmental pathway, you will need to have a degree level physiology qualification, some experience of Respiratory Diagnostics in a clinical setting and be willing to work towards the Band 6 essential qualifications and training criteria as specified on the attached person specification.
Upon appointment as the Band 5, you will be supported through a training and development plan with the goal to become a fully independent Band 6 ARTP accredited physiologist.

Person Specification Qualifications and training Essential Educated to BSc Hons level or equivalent Experience in Respiratory Clinical Physiology Desirable RCCP Registration ARTP accreditation Knowledge and experience Essential Knowledge / experience of respiratory physiology investigations.
Clinical experience in a Healthcare setting Desirable ILS certification Knowledge / experience of all respiratory physiology investigations.
Supervision and training of junior staff Experience in dealing with patients with learning and physical disabilities
