Offer DescriptionIn this post, you will strengthen the clinical academic base of Medical Oncology within the Centre for Public Health (CPH).
You will join academic teams specialising in cancer prevention (spanning primary, secondary and tertiary prevention), cancer data intelligence, and epidemiology within the School of Medicine, Dentistry and Biomedical Sciences at Queen's University Belfast (QUB) and also established medical oncology teams to deliver and enhance clinical service in Medical Oncology in the Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT).
Your academic responsibilities will involve undertaking research in line with the School's research strategy, teaching at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and contributing to the School's administration and outreach activity.
Your clinical responsibilities will relate to the provision of systemic anti-cancer therapies to patients suffering from skin cancer, melanoma, and other relevant tumour types (dependent on specialist interest and service needs) in the BHSCT Cancer Centre.
You will be supported by the multi-professional team and will be responsible for clinical assessment, prescribing, and management of toxicity of systemic treatment throughout the patient journey.
You will work with the clinical management team to develop non-medical prescribing and self-directed aftercare and will attend the relevant site-specific MDT, promptly actioning management plans to facilitate new patient assessment within regional cancer access standards.
You will have the opportunity to develop and work with the acute oncology team to ensure timely development and implementation of policies, protocols, procedures, and patient care pathways including referral guidelines pertinent to acute oncology.

Primary Medical DegreeHigher degree (PhD, MD or equivalent)Full Registration with the GMC, or eligible for full registration (in case of international applicants) for entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical Oncology via:CCT (proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of interview date)CESREuropean Community Rights (or eligible for inclusion within six months of the interview date)Post registration qualification (Membership of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent by examination)Relevant post-doctoral research experienceRelevant publications in peer-reviewed/refereed journals that are recognised internationally as being high quality, commensurate with experienceResearch profile in Medical Oncology which complements the research priorities and strengths of CPHExperience of developing research methodologies, models, approaches, and techniquesExperience of presentations at national and international meetings and conferencesRelevant teaching experience at University LevelAbility to offer expert clinical opinion on a range of problems both emergency and elective within the specialty of Medical OncologyAbility to take full and independent responsibility for clinical care of patientsEvidence of progression appropriate to career stageExperience in the management of clinical service in the relevant specialtyPlease check the Candidate Information for the full list of essential and desirable criteria for the post.
