Job overviewWe have an exciting opportunity for a highly specialist paediatric physiotherapist to join our multidisciplinary team at King's. The Paediatric Acute Physiotherapy service works across Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), wards and clinics including the management of inpatient and outpatient children on Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV). The successful postholder will provide leadership for all of the daytime acute respiratory, post-surgical, liver, trauma and orthopaedics patients as well as operational oversight of the overnight and weekend emergency respiratory physiotherapy services.
This is a key leadership role in a dynamic and specialist multi-disciplinary paediatric team working out of the Children's Hospital at King's in Denmark Hill. King's is one of London's Major Trauma Centres, which is reflected in the acute paediatric caseload.
Main duties of the jobThe postholder will be a physiotherapy clinical expert in the management of paediatric acute respiratory conditions including babies and children in PICU; medical respiratory conditions both acute and chronic; paediatric orthopaedic problems including fractures and trauma; post-elective surgery; and Non-Invasive Ventilation (NIV) patients for both inpatient and outpatient paediatric physiotherapy services.
They will be responsible for clinical leadership and service development within the paediatric physiotherapy services at King's College Hospital and shape these services appropriately to respond to growing and changing clinical landscapes and the development of more advanced care options.
The postholder will be responsible for the operational management of the respiratory paediatric physiotherapy weekend and overnight emergency on-call services and manage the safety and governance of these services.

Detailed job description and main responsibilitiesThe postholder will deliver treatment based on advanced theoretical and practical knowledge including appropriate highly specialist skills and will provide supervision and clinical support to the inpatient acute paediatric physiotherapy team and students to meet individual and service needs. They will be responsible for governance of the services and will develop and deliver paediatric physiotherapy as per NICE guidance and other relevant standards. They will work with other paediatric therapy teams to ensure a high-quality, effective, and efficient service to patients presenting with all types of conditions both acute and chronic.
