Clinical Lead in Dermatology - Consultant DermatologistThe Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS TrustApplications are invited for the post of Consultant Dermatologist. This is a substantive appointment for a new post and will start at an agreed date on appointment. The post will be split 5 PA for Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) and 5 PA for Hertfordshire Community Trust (HCT) with an additional 1 APA. The HCT sessions will be delivered in the community in Hitchin, Baldock and Hatfield, Welwyn Garden City, Waltham Cross and Bishop's Stortford. This is a joint post giving the opportunity to develop dermatology across the Integrated Care Partnership (ICP). The post comprises programmed activities as indicated in the suggested timetables and has no on-call commitment. The clinical lead position with PAHT is subject to a 3-year tenure.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder will have consultant and clinical leadership responsibilities within the HCT Skin Health Service. This consultant post will enable the Skin Health Service to provide clinical interventions in the community requiring consultant oversight, including the central triaging service for routine dermatology referrals in East and North Hertfordshire, whilst also providing strategic leadership through the oversight of policies and development of ICP pathways through their role working across acute and community settings. The successful candidate will work closely with the current Clinical Lead to support, strengthen and complement the aspects of the day-to-day leadership already within the service.

Job responsibilitiesHertfordshire Community NHS Trust is the principal provider of community-based healthcare services to the 1.2 million population of Hertfordshire and the Skin Health Service and provides Level 2 dermatology services across East and North Hertfordshire. Dermatology clinics and minor operations are delivered from health centres and GP surgeries across six localities which are a mixture of urban and rural communities which Skin Health service clinicians travel to in order to enable the delivery of care closer to patients' homes. HCT interfaces predominantly with secondary care dermatology providers at Princess Alexandra Hospital NHS Trust to the East on the borders of Hertfordshire and West Essex and East & North Hertfordshire NHS Trust (ENHT) to the North of Hertfordshire.
