Job summary Our Intestinal Failure (IF) Unit at theNorthern Care Alliance (NCA),is now a National Reference Centre for IF, with responsibilities of helping to develop IF services in the North of England.
In addition, the service offers supra-regional care to patients with complex medical and surgical issues, and cares for around 300 patients dependent on home parenteral nutrition.
The service and its team have a national and international reputation in the field.
The Clinical Lead Advance Practitioner will provide professional and clinical leadership across the Intestinal Failure (IF) Service at the NCA to the qualified and trainee advanced practitioners, they will work on a supervisory basis and will ensuring adequate support and supervision is provided.
Main duties of the job The successful candidate will support the development of care pathways for the Intestinal Failure Service at the NCA as well as in other centres in the North of England.
They will provide clinical assessmet and support to the care and treatment of patients with types 2 and3 within the Trust as well as those referred to the NCA for management while in local hospitals.
The post holder will provide Clinical Expertise and Leadership for developing and enhancing the Intestinal Failure service.
This will be done in collaboration with medical, nursing, surgical and allied health professional colleagues.
The appointee will demonstrate advanced skills and competencies, clinical assessment andsupport to the care and treatment of complex type 2 and type 3 IF patients.
They will ensure that evidence-based practice is inherent in all aspects of care and treatment and ensure this knowledge is disseminated throughout the clinical area, Trust and externally, as appropriate.
