Clinical Director Opportunity - Avondale Vets, Strathaven

Are you an experienced Clinical Director or a seasoned veterinarian ready to take the next step in your career? Avondale Vets in Strathaven is seeking a dedicated and driven individual to lead our small animal team while working in a supportive, purpose-built, and friendly environment.
About Us
Established in 1921, Avondale Vets is a well-established, large, mixed practice serving Strathaven and the surrounding areas. Our semi-rural practice is home to 19 vets, including 2 Clinical Directors, 8 nursing staff, and 10 support staff. We are proud to have a certified equine specialist on the team, alongside experienced colleagues across the small animal and farm disciplines.
Our purpose-built premises are equipped with advanced diagnostic and surgical tools, including Digital radiography, Ultrasound, Laparoscopy, Video otoscopy, a dedicated dental suite with dental radiography & Imagyst, enabling cutting-edge diagnostics.
With a reputation for excellent client care and a fantastic team ethos, Avondale offers a balance of professional support and rural charm, all within a 40-minute drive to Glasgow.
The Role
As Clinical Director, you will lead, manage, and inspire our small animal team, while also maintaining your own clinical caseload. This is a hands-on leadership role, providing a unique opportunity to combine high-quality veterinary care with strategic practice management.
Key Responsibilities Provide leadership, guidance, and development opportunities for the small animal team.Conduct staff appraisals and support the progression of the team.Ensure adherence to company policies, Health and Safety standards, and financial protocols.Work with the Leadership Team and Practice Manager to drive practice performance, including achieving financial targets (EBITDA) as set out in the business plan.Organize and lead regular staff meetings to communicate changes and updates effectively.Collaborate with the other Clinical Director to ensure cohesive leadership across the practice.Foster a positive and inclusive working environment for all staff.What We Offer Flexible working hours: Full-time, part-time, and flexible arrangements available.
40-hour week across 5 days, with a 1:4 Saturday rota.
No OOH commitment.
A supportive and experienced team: 4 of our 6 small animal vets have over 10 years' experience.
A location that combines rural charm with easy access to outdoor adventures, including cycling, kayaking, and paddle sports, as well as proximity to Glasgow for city life.
