Clinical Coder/Trainee Clinical Coder

Job summary We are looking for a motivated, enthusiastic individual to join a well established Clinical Coding Department at Glan Clwyd Hospital.
The post holder will be required to extract medical terms from clinical documents and translate to clinical codes for hospital activity at Glan Clwyd Hospital Trainee Clinical Coders will be considered if we are unable to fill the post with a Qualified Clinical Coder.
Trainee Clinical Coders will be placed on a Band 3 pay structure until they gain NCCQ status when they will move to a Band 4.
Main duties of the job You will have good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.
A keen attention to detail is essential to this role.
You would be expected to keep updated of developments in clinical coding through internal training and specialty training courses, which could involve the instance of appointing a trainee we offer a comprehensive training package including Coding Standards Course and a internal trainee coder development course fully supported by experienced nominated you are looking to develop your skills in the coding environment and feel that you can make a positive contribution to our service we would like to hear from you Previous applicants need not apply Main duties of the job You will have good knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology.

Job description Job responsibilities The post holder should hold the NCCQ and have experience of coding a wide range of specialties, have a flexible approach to work, be able to manage workload and work as part of a team to tight deadlines.The post will require a highly motivated individual, an analytical thinker and posses excellent communication skills.
They should also have the ability and confidence to suggest and implement ideas to improve departmental efficiency and performance.
Person Specification Qualifications Essential GCSE Biology Accredited Clinical Coding Qualification or equivalent relevant experience Experience Essential Experience of coding a wide range of specialties Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office Extensive knowledge of medical terminology, anatomical and physiological terms Ability to comprehend and work within the Health Board's policies of Data Protection and Freedom of Information
