Then we may have the role for you!York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for approachable and flexibleCleaning & Catering Operatives to join our team at Scarborough General Hospital.
Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.The main function of this post is to participate in maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area and providing a catering service.Please note this role is not eligible for sponsorship.
Main duties of the job The main responsibilities of the role are maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area and provide a catering service on the wards.Your duties will include, but are not limited to; Ensuring that the ward/area you are assigned to is cleaned in accordance with the work schedule for that area.
This will include lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standardUndertaking specialist cleaning as required under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge and/or Infection Prevention DeptAssisting with the distribution of meals to wardsPlating up of meals, ensuring the dietary requirements of patients are metMaking and distributing hot drinks and cleaning and refilling water jugs About us Our benefits We offer a range of benefits to support our staff including: Access to the NHS Pension Scheme, providing generous benefits upon retirement, as well as a lump sum and pension for dependants 27 days holiday rising to 33 days (depending on NHS Trust service) A generous relocation package of up to 30% of salary (capped at £18k) to support with relocation expenses for hard to fill positions where relocation would be an expectation to undertake the role fully.

Person Specification Skills and attributes Essential Able to work alone and with others as part of a team using initiative Education, qualifications and training Essential Good basic education which includes reading and writing plus basic numeric skills Basic understanding or a willingness to complete appropriate qualifications and training which includes infection prevention and control o Food Hygiene Level 2 Customer service training (or to be completed within 6 months of employment start date) Desirable BICSc Qualification/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning/Catering or equivalent Training in industrial cleaning equipment Experience and Knowledge Required Essential Effective oral and written communication skills Desirable Experience of working in cleaning industry Previous experience of working in the NHS Able to use small and large pieces of equipment such as Regeneration oven/dishwashers/Floor machinery
