Then we may have the role for you!York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management (YTHFM) are looking for an approachable and flexible Cleaning & Catering Operative to join our team in Scarborough.
Experience is not necessary as full training will be given, but a willingness to learn and develop your skills is essential.We have more than one shift pattern available currently.
The department works across 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.Additional hours may also be available at times, for those who wish to work them.
Main duties of the job The main responsibilities of the role are maintaining levels of cleanliness throughout a designated area and provide a catering service on the wards.Your duties will include, but are not limited to; Ensuring that the ward/area you are assigned to is cleaned in accordance with the work schedule for that area.
This will include lifting items and operating cleaning machinery, some of which is industrial standardUndertaking specialist cleaning as required under the guidance of the Facilities Supervisor and/or Nurse in Charge and/or Infection Prevention DeptAssisting with the distribution of meals to wardsPlating up of meals, ensuring the dietary requirements of patients are metMaking and distributing hot drinks and cleaning and refilling water jugs You will work without immediate supervision so must be able to prioritise and use your own initiative.
Tasks may need to be completed under time and other pressures but you will maintain standards and pride in your work.We are looking for people who are able to read, write and converse in English.

Person Specification Experience Essential Awareness of the importance of confidentiality and information governance in the workplace Desirable Experience of working in cleaning industry Food Hygiene Level 2 Education Essential Good basic education which includes reading and writing plus basic numeric skills Basic understanding or a willingness to complete appropriate qualifications and training which includes: knowledge of cleaning procedures, COSSH procedures infection prevention and control Food Hygiene Level 2 Relevant water systems training Use of equipment such as regeneration ovens, dishwashers and floor machinery Desirable BICSc Qualification/NVQ Level 2 in Cleaning/Catering or equivalent Training in industrial cleaning equipment Skills and Attributes Essential Able to work alone and with others as part of a team using initiative Able to work to deadlines Work in pressure situations and still maintain standards Aptitude and Personal Qualities Essential Good customer service skills Possess excellent personal hygiene standards Commitment to learning new skills Flexible and adaptable
