Job AdvertAs part of our corporate parenting commitment, Falkirk Council Children's Service is seeking to recruit a Support Worker to be part of a small team supporting the work of Falkirk dynamic and developing Champion's Board.
We are looking to fill this post with two part time workers with appropriate experience and interest and experience in Community Learning and Development, social care or related disciplinesThe Support Worker will work with the Champion's Board Co-ordinator and other staff to help care experienced young people to make a difference to the policies, procedures and practice which impact on them.Working as part of a team, the Support Worker will develop and deliver of a range of learning and development activities for care experienced young people from the Falkirk area designed to build their confidence and ability to change policy and practice in this area.The overall purpose of the role is to: Develop learning activities that promote the development of a range of core skills for care experienced young peopleSupport care experienced young people to become engaged in a way which enables their voices to be heard and valued and allows them to participate in developing and changing policy and procedures impacting on young people who are careMaintain accurate recording and statistical information required to measure impact of project Candidates should be able to demonstrate knowledge of: Issues affecting young people who are in care or leaving careThe care system in ScotlandChildren's Rights and Child Protection issuesCurrent policy and practice in relation to children and young people encountering the care systemDesigning and delivering tailored learning and development session plans Candidates should be able to demonstrate skills and competencies in:Ability to manage your time and workload effectively to meet deadlines Ability to effectively evidence and plan workExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, both oral and writtenAbility to form positive relationships with children and young people and other corporate parentsAbility to work collaboratively as part of a team and on own initiativeExcellent administration skills and the ability to produce high quality workGood knowledge of the Microsoft office suite Flexibility will be required given the remit of the role.
Some evening and weekend work will be necessary.
A full driving licence and access to transport is required.If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.This post is temporary until 30 June .
